Battleship NJ pictures

Looks like you had a great day.
Do they still have former crew as tour guides?

Did an overnight outing with the Cub Scouts when my son was young.
Too damn hot in the 3 high racks below deck so we crashed topside under the 16's.
I loved it, wife hated it (I told her to stay home!)
Thanks for sharing.
I think they do. My guide was Navy but never served on the battleship.

She is a beast and thank you for the great pics!

I have a piece of her WW2 deck from the restoration.

It looks bigger against a residential background then out to sea. I need to look the hierarchy like battleship vs destroyer.

BB62 still needs a lot of tlc. There are many sections with 1980’s teak that is in very rough shape. Most all the tour routes the teak has been replaced and looks great. Lots of peeling paint and rust peeking through.

Here is my New Jersey story.
Every summer they have a Beer on the Battleship fundraiser. So a bunch of us would go and we would rotate the designated driver so the others could drink their fill. It's about 2.5hr drive but for a great cause.
The rule is tour the ship but when you hit the stern for beer that's where you stay. So this one year it was my turn to drive so no drinking for me. My buddies made a fast tour then proceeded to tie one on. I stayed back wandering around taking pictures. At one point a docent came up and said "why aren't you partying" I told why and he said to follow him.
It was the best personal tour of anything I ever had.
