Cope Racing TransIm a little confused. Is this a brand new case with a SFI bell? Ive not seen an a518 with a case like that.
If it's like his other offerings, it's a new SFI case and bellhousing.

Actually he did create something new, it’s a new modular HD SFI approved case and bell housing that will work behind an A block, B block, or Cummins. The cut and welded case is not SFI approved. He didn't create anything new, others doing it for 20yrs. I'm all for more options for us tho
I see. Useful for drag and drive racersActually he did create something new, it’s a new modular HD SFI approved case and bell housing that will work behind an A block, B block, or Cummins. The cut and welded case is not SFI approved.
And it’s stronger for the more important Cummins market.I see. Useful for drag and drive racers

Sounds like a 1 piece. The whole case would be sfi. Bye bye tranny blankets and shields. That was also my first question.
I believe however the new offering is an entire new case and a detachable SFI bellhousing, not like the prototype? pictured., meaning that large flange (case to bellhousing) that required sheet metal modification is no longer a concern.
Well then it would be big block specific, not favorable IMO. I am basing my assumption on the video that noted the new bolt location without the flange eliminated sheet metal clearancing, if I heard his comments correctly.Sounds like a 1 piece. If a man wanted he could opt for the lower 2.75 gearset in the A518. Nice middle of the road gear between the pickup truck ratio GM trans and the factory 2.45 ratio. The Silver Sport Overdrives A41 kit is a GM based 4 speed automatic overdrive. At it's core is a 4L60E, an electronic version of the 700R4.
This was a decent transmission for lower performance applications and it is compact enough to fit our cars with only minor clearance work. The kit was over $6000 the last time that I looked at it but it was made to bolt right in.
Now, this new 518 casting has a similar overdrive ratio as the GM trans but the 518 first gear is sure more drag race oriented than the GM. A 2.45 1st gear is way behind any modern automatic. You have to run a deeper gear to get the car moving and while the overdrive does take the sting out of the low axle gear, it still could be better.
Cummins is a bellhousing all to itself. Is the sfi 518 case available for sb/Gen III hemi? Should be the same as Cummins, right?
But Mopar made a case for the Cummins... Extra clutches & six pinion planeteries front & rear plus O/D... Called it the 618...Cummins is a bellhousing all to itself.
Ah, for some reason I thought they were the same as sb. No reason for that to have even been true though.Cummins is a bellhousing all to itself.
