Need a diagram to wire daytime running through the front park/turn lights with switchback bulbs.

Need a diagram to wire daytime running through the park/turn lights with switchback bulbs.

My 1969 Dodge Charger is dark green and I would like for people to see me better.

I know that others have used the Halo headlights for this but I would rather keep the headlight doors closed to preserve the look of the car.

Does anyone have a diagram of how they wired them up?
 
Why don't you just run the parking lamp circuit (tail lamps included)?

Later on I’m going to switch the rear tail lights to Digi Tail leds.

I don’t want to leave the rears on all the time because they are one piece units and expensive to replace.

I’ve heard of other people using the switchback bulbs up front but not how they wired it up.

??? Are you expecting them to melt or what ???

I installed LED bulbs on all exterior lights (Amazon). I keep the parking lights on - even at shows - they consume virtually no power.

Every bulb has a lifespan.

If the taillights are on all the time it needlessly shortens the lifespan.

At $295 a set I’d rather not keep them on when I’m just trying to run front daytime running lights.

I’m not an electronics expert by no means.

I’ve seen how people wire up the headlight relays but not the daytime running lights with the park/turn signals.

Its just a fuckin' bulb - a couple bucks for a package of two !! What the hell costs $295 a set ???

As I said in my previous comments I’m planning to use Digi Tail led tail lights that are $295 a set. They are much brighter than any led bulbs.

They provide another level of safety just like the Daytime Running lights that I am trying to figure out in this post.

If you have the model of the switchback bulb I can design a diagram.

However per what you are describing you are needing or wishing a front parking light system divorced from sidemakers and tail lights (well, being 69 you don’t have to worry about side markers really), then being turned in as soon you put the key on.

Actually all you have to do is source front parking lights from the ign1 network instead from headlight switch (ACC will work too). No need for switchback lights or even any relay system. Then if you want to use led lights or whatever is at your own, but this mod will work with the standard light bulbs too.

Being 69s doesn’t have powered sidemarkers, this mod can be made inside the cab or into engine bay… as you wish. A jumper wire with a female packard terminal on back of the bulkhead connector removing the feed to parking lights from cavity will make the job.

An in-line fuse (2 or 3 amps is plenty for that) could be nice to add in that jumper wire, since the ign circuit is not fused

I was going to use the switchback bulbs so the DRL are white like normal DRLs.

I was looking at these bulbs:

When the park lights are actually on they would act like white “fog lights” and switch to yellow turn signals when needed.

I was not sure if the front lights needed to be separated from the rear to prevent power going there while the DRLs are running.

I have a new American Autowire harness being installed with relays for the headlights as others have recommended.

After reading about other owners having people pull out in front of them because of the lack of DRLs. I wanted to see how hard this would be to do.

Unfortunately I’m not an electronics wiz by no means so I wanted to see how others have gone about this.
 
The ones you posted are direct replacement to the originals. No extra wiring required. Just need to change the source from parking circuit to ign1/ACC circuit as I described to use it as DRL instead regular parking light, that’s all. They will be allways white even at night, and will switch to amber just on blinks.

Making the long story shorter as posible… front and rear parking lights along with sidemarkers (when present) are linked together at diff points of the wiring network depending on year (68s are a bit diff even switch is the same between 68-70… wiring differences).

However you can separate out both front and rear circuits on your 69 really easy without getting worried about sidemarkers. As mentioned, the cleanest way is remove the wire from bulkhead cavity (then isolate the terminal) which source them and insert there a wire with terminal (in line fuse also, recommended), coming from Ign1 or ACC circuit. With that you are ready for them.

If you look at modern mopars, the daytime running lights are amber halos.
