I just looked up the price of my Holley Ultra Street Avenger 770 Carburetor and it's currently selling for over $800. I'm sure it was about half that in 2014 when I purchased one.

I always buy good quality used carbs.

As long as shafts are tight and no damage,
I will go thru them anyway before use.

I have 50+ used carbs in my shop that I paid less than five new ones
would cost these days with the insane prices!

Holley. Another company bought out by greedy NY private equity. Expect more price hikes and shittier products until they drive it into the ground, sell off assets, and leave the pensioners holding their wangs.

I just found out car batteries too. I just had to buy one. I haven’t bought one in years. The cheapest group 65 agm battery at Walmart was $205.00. Used to get them under $100.

I got a Brawler less than a year ago and now the same carb is roughly 20% more. Prices are definitely going up.

Yeah, i wanted to get a street avenger myself.. used are around $200 near me...

Have read a lot of people that had issues with them and made them much better by changing the metering blocks

P.S. i mainly want one to play with vacuum secondaries after a recent ben alemeda video.. plus i hate to give up an electric choke

P.P.S. right now i'm using a Street Demon 750 with the composite body... and really happy with it, one of the best out of the box carbs i have used

I had the 650 on my El Camino before swapping to Sniper 1. Then put the Demon on Uncle Bill's Cuda. That carb never needed any adjustments except curb idle.

yeah, i had to put in 4hg springs due to low vacuum.. my only complaint is that it takes way too much pressure to open the secondaries.. but been a great carb.

I hardly ever went full throttle unless I was getting on the highway. My car was basically stock to mild with plenty of vacuum.

I just spent $10 a quart on some Valvoline VR1 at walmart. Also, $11 on a container of moist hand wipes for the racecar supply bin. EVERYTHING is over priced and has been since 2020. Then, to add insult to injury, I go through the self checkout and provide free labor for the store. I'm surprised the little payment screen didnt automatically ask for a 30% tip.

I doubt I'll ever buy a new carb again. Prices are nuts. Just picked up a $100 swap meet Holley 750 that is pristine.... and at this rate will be buying every decent one I run across and putting it on the shelf.

Not wanting to turn this political but just asking this question
Are all these things you are seeing with bigger prices totally made in the USA or are the boarder controls you have in place finally trickling down to the consumer after everyone stocked up when they could but now that supply of parts are used up ??

Nearly 4 years ago a friend of mine mentioned a 'reconditioned' battery and for 60 bucks, thought I'd give it a shot. It's 3 1/2 years old now and another one is a bit over 2 years old.
