So I was cleaning up the front end on my 70 Coronet and after removing 50 plus years of grease this tag appeared. I’ve never seen one before, have you?
As stated; part number tag. This one happens to be tacked on upside-down. "90", not "06" - for part number 2962 090. '1970 Charger, Coronet and Satellite with V-8 except Hemi or 440.
According to an AI search its correct for big block cars not the 318 or 340 but for the 383 and 440. So who has proof its not used on the 440? I'd like to know for sure. It says this k frame was specifically designed to support those larger engines. I also asked for its verification and sources and it seems quite legit. It actually makes more sense to me because why would this k frame fit a small block and big block because they used different k frames for those engine types. Also my v code car has that tag on its unmolested frame.
My notes also suggest the "90" K-frame was used on all SB/BB V-8 engines, not 440/426, meaning the 383, 340 & 318 applications. This is the "light duty" V8 K-frame for B-body in 1970.
