DOGS

Our cat passed a couple days ago. (We think she was 20). A few months ago when she seemed to be bugging my girlfriend daily, she said NO MORE cats. Honestly, she does ALL the maintenance and feeding, of both our cat and dogs. My job is to play with them five times a day, and cover vet bills. I think I got a bargain.
Today, a much softer gf says if I really want a kitten (that isn't scared to death of big dogs, lol) we can get one.
Now all I have to do is find a tortie (I REALLY want a tortie!) in the shelter.

Sorry to hear about your cat. Is this a torte?

Sorry to hear about your car 33. My last of the sisters, Cuda, is 18 going on 19. Still kicking but she has her moments.

This one has several too. Toad, cuteness, panther. She's all black. There are several more that can't be mentioned and they fit her to a tee. When Zeke and Toga showed up, her rein of terror over the dogs ended. She's grown up around dogs and loves to bitch slap when the dogs, past ones, made eye contact. Toad would just sit next to them waiting for the dog to slip. One dog, Coco, would be on the bed with us hanging out. Cuda would hop up and Coco would do her, as I call it, Stevie Wonder imitation. Look all around and "not see the cat". All the while Cuda is right by her just waiting for Coco to slip up.

Blackout adopted us, many years ago, from off the street, just kinda moved in, inspite of the two big dogs my gf had at the time. So she obviously had no fear, and has been around big dogs since day one with us. Poor Magnum was terrified of her, for a long time. When age finally crept up on her, he finally quit jumping off the bed the instant she jumped on. I'm guessing he doesn't miss her at all.

I'll miss Cuda but I won't miss the barfs, peeing out of the box[ we go through quite a few pee pads daily], phantom poo's. Once she and my MIL's cat pass on, no more cats. More work than dogs.

There is definitely that aspect to cats, but I feel like I had less freedom when my dogs were around, like if I was away from the house too long. I often repeat the comparison that a cat is like a roommate and a dog is like a child. This is of course for dogs that have to be in the house, I've had large dogs that are always in the yard unattended and that wasn't really a hassle.
Cats are messy inconsiderate roommates though.

Toward the end Blackout was a rabid heat-seeker. Lately, Liz would wake up with Blackout sleeping on her head. Liz was not amused.
Blackout would happily lay on my legs or stomach for hours on end, even with me moving around from sitting in one position for too long.

The young lady that rents an apartment from me is going to house sit our cat. This is the dog I allowed her to have in the apartment. I am so happy that I decided to let her have him live with her. She bought him out last night and I spent a little time with him. I took Thor to the kennel on Sunday and I have been missing him. It was nice to play fetch together. His name is Boone and he is a really good dog.
