Good Morning All, I am looking for as many responses as possible to see if we can agree on whether the Deflector Shield that stretches across the front of the radiator in between the radiator and front bumper should be painted the color of the car or black primer. I am trying to replicate what the factory did. My car was assembled in L.A., CA. I have a 440, 4 Spd., if that makes a difference at all.

I will look today, but to the best of my recollection, its body color. I have a semi survivor 67 GTX.

I would say body color with maybe a little black overspray from core support blackout.

This panel bolts to the body and then got painted with the car. Then the core support blackout over the top. All 66-67 Belvedere. A guy was parting a 66 and a 67 cars both front bumpers gone and the body colored panels shown in the sun. Look where the attaching bolts were and no paint.

Most all other mopars these bolt to the bumper brackets and are black.

My 67 GTX semi survivor car is body color, but my 67 Coronet R/T survivor car is chassis black. Of the 4 67 Plymouth B bodies I have in this building, all are body color. The 66 Plymouth B bodies are all chassis black.

Thank you Jerry. This is all good intel and does match what my car has. The reason I asked is because I do know that it was painted in the mid 80’s and wasn’t sure if they followed factory specs.

Jerry, I want to also ask you if you can send me a few pics of the tail light panel on your 67 X. I have seen slight variations in color in the Argent paint that the factory used and do not know what is the correct color.

When looking at this argent color, remember this car is 58 years old and there is probably some fading on this panel. It's had 91 thousand miles of exposure.

Body colour with the radiator support black out overspray on it... R413 schooled me on that long ago and I bought an OE accordingly and restored it.

As received (as removed non restored).

Repainted the Silver and Black, left the OE underside to match my 10,000 mile car and installed with new seals..

66 67 Chargers were black. The rest I thought were body color..

Thanks Dadsbee. Here is what I know. The body was dipped first in a black primer/ rust protectant. Then all body parts to get colored were added before they shot the color. Very car I ever seen had the color on the radiator cross member that the So e Deflectorwas mounted to. Yours seems to have all blackout. Not that it would t have some over spray on it. Whoever did this car got carried away, but they all do vary some. My car also had blackout behind bothe sides of the headlights as well. Which s tally does make sense. But I never saw it on another car.
