That's why I went with a pump in the tank, as long as you don't run it down to E every time the pump has plenty of cooling. You also have to remember I haven't had great experience with mechanical fuel pumps either, so many parts are garbage anymore.. 3 pumps in 19,000 miles!
She runs again!! Time to start racking up the miles and see what happens. A few more pictures..
The lines tend to come out where the pumpkin could make contact so I made this little bracket that bolts into a few unused holes in the shock cross member.
Since I have a trunk mounted battery and...
Others had suggested trying one but I didn't for 2 reasons.
1 I've heard of people having problems caused by to much bypassing.
2 and most importantly it wouldn't do anything for my float bowls going dry. I'm attempting to 100% cure everything at once.
I did however install one on another...
Anyone that's in need of a tank let me know, I won't be needing it. The tank was brand new when installed, I painted it black but it still looks like new inside and the outside just needs washed off. I also have a new tank that I bought as a scratch and dent, won't need it either. Make me an...
What do you have car wise? Looking at these Chargers from the side the area where the pump sits appears to be the lowest then the tank gradually tapers up towards the rear bumper, I assume in an attempt to hide the tank. My car sits almost perfectly level but will look at it.
Took a break to chaperone my boys Washington DC trip but back at it. Hit 1 little snag, even though I took careful notes on what all I needed I still had to order 1 more fitting. After mounting the regulator I saw that a 45 degree AN fitting would have been ideal to move the line farther from...
I'll post some useful info (a link) and the instructions here so anyone that's curious can see how simple it is to setup. When ordering the correct pump for a carburated engine it's important to read and look a the flow charts, EFI operates at higher pressures, the higher the pressure...
Gotta love the brackets provided, don't know how they expect you to bolt this to anything? Made a little aluminum bracket bolted to the firewall will rivet nuts.
Parts run to Summit yesterday, should be set now! I was going to hard-line the fuel lines until I got under there and realized it was impossible to run them the way I wanted without splices so braided hose it is. Never used this type of hose until now but really like it, easy to work with and...
Putting the pump and sending unit assembly together are pretty straight forward using the instructions. Only advice I'd add to it is this pump is a tight fit, tight enough that it matters how you install the supplied zip ties as shown in the pictures. Same goes for the sending unit, unless you...
After trying phenolic spacers and insulating the fuel lines with some degree of success I've decided to throw everything at the problem. I'll try to post everything and check back once I start putting some miles on it for those who are having the same issues.
As of right now my car does pretty...
It's definitely a frustrating issue especially when the results aren't consistent which I attribute to differences in fuels. My car as it sits is mostly problem free throughout the summer with the fuel line insulated and the carb sitting on a 1/2" spacer but mostly isn't good enough. I live in...
The parts are ordered so work will commence soon just looking to see if there's any interest in me doing a thread on the matter. I've put 19,000 miles on the car starting with basically the plain ordinary parts then added a phenolic spacer, insulated the fuel line and now will do a full fuel...
I'm aware but thanks to the popularity amongst car enthusiast AN fittings have become very affordable while looking nice under the hood plus they seem to be more compact?
gkent pretty well summed it up, excellent against corrosion but a lot harder to work with. Most modern cars are using a combination of plastic and stainless lines.
Just curious what the thoughts were regarding aluminum fuel lines mostly in regards to today's fuels? I'm getting ready to replumb my fuel system and really don't like the idea of running any form of hose from front to back for the simple fact that you have to fasten it down so frequently to get...
