Since the compressor reduces the volume of the gas it can be transported in a smaller line than the suction side. Did you forget Boyle's Law from school?

High side is compressed gas/condensed liquid. Low side is suction after X-valve thru evaporator coil to compressor inlet. Do some research on this conversion, I removed the EPR valve from the compressor and added a thermostat to control the compressor clutch. It must be cycled to control...
As with any bolt, it needs to work with a thread, no matter where the threads are. In a nut or in a tapped piece of metal. The engineers designed ease of assembly into the assembly.
