That’s what I initially thought, but the aperture for the bush is bigger than the lip that sits into the aperture. So you can’t properly centre the bush.
Hi Guys,
Back at the car again after giving it a rest for a Good while. I thought I’d get a couple of jobs done while self isolating and ordered some parts.
among the parts I got some strut rod bushes. I checked a couple of sites and all List the energy suspension 57109 for my year, I checked...
Really, The distributor felt ok when I seated it in the slot with the intermediate shaft out. But then I did have t bottomed out in the slot.
I did note the burring on the top of the slot but thought it might be ok. Hard to know when you’ve no point of reference. Don’t see many of them this...
Waiting on the timing tapes to arrive. Just popped the distributor out to check the drive gear and slot.
There seems to be a bit of play with the gears itself. Is this play excessive?
The total timing appears to be fine. It just didn’t return to the initial I set.
In the video there is a little side to side play with very light touch of the hand like slack before you feel the spring tension
...like a standard damper. Suppose I better pull no1 plug and confirm it’s location to rule it out.
One thing that I did notice and i put it down to the dial back on the light was when I started to increase the RPM dial back set at 17* the mark appeared to retard at first before moving to advance.
I don’t think the flamethrower II is multi spark, no issues before setting the timing.
Gonna try a tape anyway.
Gladly accept any pointers if anyone has any ideas.
...pulled over about a mile from home and backed the timing off and this seemed to help. I just completed some jobs on the car and set the timing to 17* initial and 33* total (16 in the mechanical advance since I last set it no vacuum advance connected).
It idled fine started ok, took it for a...
I just finished rebuilding mine with new seals and setting the lash on the bench. Not for the faint hearted.
Seems a lot tighter now, but haven’t got out for a test drive yet to see how it handles. Only rebuilt the couples last night. Mine had slot of play, check that for play too as it may be...
I ran mine from the battery off a relay taking signal from an “ignition on” power source. Popped in a seperate in-line fuse to protect that circuit then.
I see, well i tried pressing it out with a socket in my big old record vise and that sucker don’t want to budge at all.
I might try a few taps with the hammer as suggested but don’t want to mushroom it.
But it’s looking I’ll have to bring it to then hydraulic press and try that
Hi all, hope your all doing ok.
Got my steering column out tonight and had a look at the coupler. The old shoe string broke contributing to my excessive play.
Any ways the new shoe have some play on the old pin espescially on one side. I got a new pin in the kit but it’s seems very hard to...
