I just bought some good used bars that are suppose to be small Block / 6 Cyl bars. I wanted to know other than being Left & Right is there a Correct way to put them in ?
Meaning is the # suppose to be in the Back ? Dose it matter ? I would think the Bar would gain a sort of Memory to it

TorsionBarinstall basics.
If the upper control arm is installed to the body the rebound bumper needs to be removed.
Lower control arm shaft nut loose.
Strut rod to K-frame nut loose helps a ton.
Torsionbar adjustment nut backed all the way off.
At this point you should be able to rotate the...
That’s actually pretty correct. “Sometimes” people need an extra 1/2” clearance or something. On my last torsionbarinstall, I removed the upper bumpers, removed the adjuster bolts, jacked the car way up….and still needed a HUGE crescent wrench on the end of the torsionbar to get that little...
...nut stop? (see last photo posted) I hear various talk about these needing to be "keyed." The more I read the more questions I have and less answers. 1969 service manual makes no mention of this in the torsionbarinstallation instructions. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
Thank you @T2R9 /Jeff all I had to do was loosen the shaft bolt and they went in. You said dont tighten them until the car is on the ground, does the motor need to be in before tightening them? When do I tighten the t torsionbar bolt that gos through the LCA? Thanks again
While putting larger torsionbars on my 1970 B body it looked like the boots looked too small. Even after adding grease, I couldn't push them on by hand. So I found a plastic plumbing connector that is the exact diameter of the torsionbar (point to point). It is the beige piece in the photos...
Hey guys, had my charger on the lift installing the Trans today. I noticed the torsionbars have a boot on the back side of the Trans cross member but none on the front side of the Trans cross member. Is that correct? Or did someone install the bars without the bushings.
One other question...
1970 chjarger sb they came out easy. L on drivers side and tried numbers front and back. Stoppers off lca and uca jacked up lca all the way and it is lifting the car off of jacks. Tried with uca totally unhooked from car. What am I doing wrong? Watched a video and his fell right in ...
Yes, this is standard practice and it surprises me that it needs to be mentioned.
I've read and heard this before but have not had to remove the UCA upper bumpstop before.
Interesting. I've never done this once.
For stock torsionbars that I never have any interest in using again, I have...
it was 2.5 hrs there and 3 hrs home for me. Still made it home before dark and I was very tired, but it was worth it. Thanks KD and Rich. Great to see you guys. KD - also please post your new Torsionbar boot install method. It required 2 people, but it worked better than anything I've seen...
Ok I know this subject has been beaten half to death but I have a question. All of the posts I have read say to remove the limiting bump stop and shock absorber prior to Stabbing the torsionbar into the socket but the Shop Manual says to attach the shock first. which way is right?
hello gang
i understand the left from right torsionbar by markings on bars but is there a front or back direction also do they need to be clocked or just install
thanks

Minor update. To add insult to injury (literally) my brand new battery started leaking. I noticed some corrosion on my hoist. When I removed it I found one cell was low. Looks like there must be a crack somewhere, but nothing obvious. My buddy Rick replaced the battery no problem. I had...
Happy Saturday Everybody,
Got a quick question, looking for a general consensus. Just received these T bars from Sway-A-Way. Only one end of one bar is marked. It looks like this is supposed to be a “L” which I assume indicates the driver’s side and the marked end would be towards the rear...
