Yea, its a detent spring. I just slips into the groove around the pin and rides on the upper seat frame. keeps the seat from flopping when you have it in the forward position

Oh, that doesn't look right at all....of all the lines I have seen, none have straight ends.
I think the proper routing is out of the pump and go towards the radiator, under the battery tray then back to the gear box. Requires curved ends though.
