    Never ever beat on a harmonic balancer! They make pullers and installers for this job.

    I've always said that you can only recycle metal so much. Glad there wasn't any damage. Radiator, hoses, hood.

    Oil leak please help

    Sometimes oil can leak past the seal retainer bolt holes if you don't fill them level with sealer. You can see the edge of the holes at the back of your gasket. This is where I'm talking about filling with sealer before installing the pan. (These are not filled level)

    Maybe I should have used the term "heat transfer". More time in the passages means more time for heat transfer. Maybe it's why they wanted larger passages in the newer blocks and heads? I'm using 452 heads on a '67 block. Using those same gaskets with no overheating problems at all.

    It was a design change to help with cooling. If coolant going through the block and heads happens too fast it won't have the time to cool down in the radiator.
