Efficiency....what are your methods that make jobs go easier?

Agree, doesn't work on reconductoring, only on wide open new stuff. Our reconductor bids always had a trip out penalty clause by the home utility. That is one of the reasons that kind of work is expensive, it has to be figured in to bidding. It's one of the variables we were very good at. Since...

Swapping K member with 4 post lift

...current thought is to use the lift to raise the rear portion of the car and an engine hoist to raise the front. Install the assembly. Install dollies of the front and rear then roll the car back to where the scissor lift will safely support it. As you can see, there would be a LOT of weight...

    Engine/trans/k-frame removal

I used several HF moving dollies, and scrap wood. I bought 2 large, and 2 small dollies. I put a small one inside the larger one. Then attached 4x4, and 2x4 wood to cradle the K member. The other dollie is to support the transmission. With the wheels off of the car, I could reach the K member...

Looking for suggestions on what equipment to use to move some classic vehicles.

Depending on the car there should be either a button (use a pen or paperclip) or a grenade pin inside the console near the shifter, to let you get out of park. Steering...dunno. Dollies? or just slide 'er the shortest distance possible (presuming you have a winch)

...of my K frames have holes for the guide pins. I was wondering if they put holes in the K frames the next year or so because I am seeing K frames on dollies using guide pins. I guess I'm going to have to drill holes based upon the pictures I see of newer K frames with the holes as a template.

Efficiency....what are your methods that make jobs go easier?

Until Works good until the grunt or ape losses a pea line then your setting up anyway. I rarely set a pole with dollies on it, seems like as soon as I do I end up going back and moving them and only pea line dollies if it a reconductor job. We usually string rope lay it up and dolly up 1 step...

...few other projects and the frigid cold temp (-25c) . Warmer weather this weekend was able to get back out there. With car up on some roller dollies i was able to get under the car and maneuver the drivers side header a bit more and gave me much better access to the head bolts. I didn't have...

    Best wheel dollies??

I'm about to put a ceiling in the pole barn, which will require moving the Coronet around while I do each section. I've read some good and some bad reviews about various wheel dollies, but am interested in what you guys have used... liked... hated. Thanks for the input.

    Rebirth of my 1970 GTX!

68 Coronet, slow project in Napa, CA

It wasn't pretty but I got the K-member out and the front end dollies temporarily mounted. I say temporarily because the holes in the dollies do not account for the shoulder on the stock bolts that were used to attach the K-frame to the rail. They go tight but the bolts head is not seated...

    My dream garage build

...forming machines, bolt bins, tool boxes etc that are all on casters so they can be used when needed or rolled out of the way when not. My unit is stick built so I used up the leftover beam portions, lumber etc to make cribbing and wheel stands. All of that too is on wheels using moving dollies.

I'd like to hear from those with lifts that they can't fully extend up, please?

I have a nice 40x40 space...with a single garage door and a 9' ceiling :BangHead: I pull my wagon in the single door, put it on wheel dollies, and slide it sideways out of the way, then pull my Ram in next to it. What I want to do, is widen the door from the 7x9 it is now, to a double-bay 18x7...
