Have you checked the fuel flow volume of the pump? Procedure is on the factory service manual.
After the needles and seats the carb really doesn't care what the fuel pressure is. Pressure creates flow. What the carb wants is volume of fuel. But they kind of go hand in hand. To many things can...
Best to study the why, what and where before doing things. If your engine will not support it 5800 rpm shift points will not do a bit of good. This is why it's best to know the power band before making adjustments.
I take it your happy with everything but the down shift?
Loss of fuel pressure in its self will not cause a miss. The engine will simply go flat. Check the spark plug wires. Straight runs are pretty but can cause arking between adjacent firing plugs. Meaning the original problem may have been fixed and a new one created.
Without a build sht to match the vin tag there are questions. But its a nice looking car. If it were a 440 car that production number drops drastically.
This day and age the HP would be meaningless. To many miles and the components that made it a HP would like be worn out anyway. Everything but intake, carb, pistons, valve springs and cam where pretty much the same. Some used different heads.
For rebuild purposes the HP on the block means...
Its got to be a status thing. Something like chrome valve covers create hp. Last I know we are still allowed the send our allowance any way we see fit. But to spend it and then complain because something didn't work? There has been enough research to fill rooms on this stuff and people still...
At highway speeds of what good are the fans? If the isn't enough air flow into the radiator going down the road at speed fans are not going to help. After all air is being forced threw the grill into the radiator.
Infact, I have used that air flow to turn the solid mount fan to turn the water...
Have you cheeked radiator temperatures at the inlet and outlet? A lean running engine also creates more heat. Just trying to determine if this is truly a radiator problem or if problems exist elsewhere.
The question should not be what it worth. But how deep are your pockets and is it a I just have to have. Sleep on it figure out what it going to cost to put back together and then double that.
Might be more reasonable to find one already finished.
But if you just got to I get it.
So give or take possible 300 hours of run time. That about ten months of drive time for most people. Plus your running in a more service controlled environment I hope. Using the right oils with bronze or brass is a plus. Most will just have any cheap crap oil installed unlike your race car.
