I believe it is cast and yes, the balancer is for an internal balanced engine, so won't work. Missed that. I don't have any paperwork on the details of the motor, but put calipers to the bore and it is 4.320". Other than that, I really don't have anything about specifics.
This is a factory HEMI 18 spline 4 speed out of a 1972 Charger Rallye 440. Car had about 50K miles on it. Will have to be freshened up, but shifted well when taken out years ago. Includes clutch disc and throwout bearing. Asking $1000. Can deliver to Mopar Nationals. Located in Central Illinois.
I have a 440 short block built years ago by Herb McCandless's shop. It was one of their "street motors" they built in the off season. Standard bore. All new components were used. 1978 block. No Cam, but includes a good used flywheel. Stored in climate controlled storage. McCandless told me with...
If you use epoxy be sure to sand the fenders with 180 or a little coarser grit sandpaper. With epoxy, you have to rough the surface to create a "mechanical" bond to the surface. If you use a self-etch or DTM (Direct to Metal) primer like DP90, it creates a chemical bond and the sanding is not...
I know what you’re saying and Mark is wrong many times but he does have a lot of knowledge that is correct. Wouldn’t say he’s an expert like Dave Wise and some others. He has always said they try to put them back the way they left the factory not necessarily “correct” unless the owner wants it...
Thanks steve340. Yeah I think yours is different. 1968 had the single terminal switch. In 1969 they went to the 3-prong switch, so maybe whatever the adjustment was, isn't applicable with the 3-prong switch. Mine is a 1972 and has the 3-prong switch. I can't find any adjustment procedure in...
Switch adjustment procedure? Do you mean the console shift linkage adjustment procedure? I have to factory manual and it doesn't mention a switch adjustment procedure for this.
I think it's the neutral safety switch, even though I grounded the relay terminal before and it didn't make a difference. I tested for continuity at the switch and there was none. I also did what I never tried before, which is to start the car in gear, which it did. It's either the switch or...
I'll have to check tomorrow. I can't hear the relay click when I'm in the car trying the key. Will have to get someone to turn the key while I'm at the fender listening. I might just try it on the bench to see if it clicks, but it also didn't work with the relay from my Challenger that works...
I tried two different ones and also the one from my Challenger that I know works and none of them will crank. It's frustrating because I think there must be something that has been changed in the wiring. I wanted to avoid time spent under the dash to trace wires since the ones in the engine...
Yes, it starts with the Ford one. I'll try putting a light on it. Somehow, it must get signal to the Ford relay so it makes me think the internals are different.
Ok, I'm hoping someone on this forum can help me. I bought a 1972 Satellite Sebring to drive and "play" with. 318, console auto. This car looks nice (20 footer) and runs well, but has had a lot of "shadetree" work done, probably by some Chevy hack or someone who just fixed and flipped the car...
The filter is almpst impossible to find now. I don't know when Fram quit making the repop filters, but several years ago. I talked with Fram about this recently and they are not really interested in doing the "vintage" (hence the "V" in the part number) series again. Looks like any of these...
Yes, basically the same for all years and all 4 barrel applications. I don't know exactly when they came with orange flanges and the perforated metal but most everything from probably 69-72 probably had it. Many of the NOS Mopar filters (service replacement), number 2863349 as someone else...
