9” section width or tread width?
235 is the tread width
50 - 60 -70 is the aspect ratio. The sidewall height of 50 series is 50% of tread width or. 60 series is 60%, 70 is 70%
Section width is the sidewall bulge on the recommended rim width
There’s all kinds of tire dimension charts on...
275/50-15's both front and rear and running nitto 555r2 tires. They stick like crazy but you have to get used to the delayed turn in response. My steering box is factory and it has some typical slop. It's all muscle car. Nothing real trick about it. Even has 4 wheel drum brakes which are working...
Not sure if I’m missing other sizes with Avon but everything I see is smaller in diameter. I’m at 26.5” tall and that’s about as small as I’d like to go.
...on the matter but I can attest to what feels right for me.
It looks like 17” diameter wheels are the point where availability of good/great tiresizes are plentiful.
I chose 18s.
I don’t recall exactly why I skipped over the 17” size. I bought mine in2003 so this isn’t really a new trend.
so 1 is worst and 5 is best?
I've always heard the Goodyear Eagle 15" tires have poor traction, so I'm surprised you rank these higher than the Coopers. I previously ran BFG Radial T/A's and they had worse traction than my current Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T, which are very similar to Cooper...
Yeah, I've noticed for a long time that the late 60's Dodge B bodies have different enough wheel arch sizes and clearances compared to the Plymouth B bodies to matter. The Dodges are a lot more open. I first noticed that on Dennis H's 69 Coronet. It seems to make Wheel/tire combos on the Dodges...
Front with a 6" wheel is good.
A 275 tire is too wide on a 7" wheel. Use a 255/60 on a 7" or the 275/60 on an 8" wheel.
I've used these sizes before, looks and fits nice!
I don't like 8" wheel on front or 10" on rear. Too wide
Hello
Just finishing up my 66 charger . I have 15x7 wheels for the front and 15x8 4 1/2 back space in the rear . I need to order some radial tires for non show days . Any suggestion on tiresizes would be helpful Thanks
Back around 2000 I had the BFG guys put tires on my RamCharger (off road type). A year or so later I sell the truck to my friend, he came back two weeks later to say the tires are mismatched. Sure enough tire guys had put two different sizes on diagonally. So back to BFG, I showed him the bill...
And if I ever do change front tiresizes, they might get a little wider, but they won't get any taller than the current 215/70/15's. Wait, a little wider, but no taller - sounds like a joke in there somewhere...
I bought 245/50x16s for my 95 Z28 from Walmart recently. Falken, speed rated I believe. Search for tires for mid/late 90s mustangs and camaros.
TireSize.com will tell you what sizes there are, and what's available.
GF's 2006 Dakota has Goodyear Wrangler 265/70x16s, probably an suv tire, but...
Hi Rich, did you ever figure out what rim and tiresizes you can use on your RR? I'm redoing a '71 GTX and I like the way the wheels look on your pictures!
...GV are on the to do list. Plus redo front seat, complete suspension redo, upsize the brakes all around along with 15's[ already know what tiresizes I want], diy frame connectors, efi? maybe, rewire, LED headlamps, freshen engine/trans, get rid of the Green bearings plus some other things...
...The info will be very helpful to me as I consider ride height on my 67 Belvedere II.
My question for you is about those wheels: American Torque Thrusts? I absolutely love them and wanting to put some on my ride. Yours look like 14s. What wheel width and what tiresizes are you sporting?
I'm totally ignorant as to what tiresizes
fit your Satalite, but if you're able to fit
a larger diameter tire in the wheelwells,
this would be a cheaper alternative to
swapping gears.
For example-
A 29.00 tall tire would spin your engine
at 2521 rpm's @ 60 with 3.55 gears.
Which is exactly what...
I've owned my '69 GTX since fall of '69 as second owner. Since it is a numbers matching car, I left the original 14" road wheels (see pic). I just decided to change wheels when I found a great deal on HK Magnum 17x6" wheels with 3.75" BS. (BTW...Summit Racing and Holley both have great deals on...
