The 66's and 67's are a different animal from the 68-up b-bodies. On a 66-67 you can fit a 275-60-15 with a 7" or 8" rim with the right back spacing but you will almost certainly get a rub on the driver side tire when turning left (or if you have passengers in the back seat). A 7" rim needs 4.5"...
I struggled with gear set choices/transmission ratios/tiresizes for a while when trying to decide on what RPM I was comfortable cruising at. To help, I made an excel spreadsheet that auto-calculates RPM vs speed for a given car (after inputting some known or hypothetical values). Was very...
nothing special. stock except added extra heavy duty mopar leafs, hotchkis subframes, hotchkis front and rear sways. spindles stock all around.
wheels are 15x7 all around. 4” backspace on front and 4.5” at rear. tire size are all p235/60r15.
got $50 worth of gas…just a hair over 7.5 gallons...
Looking to finally upgrade the hodge podge wheels on my project car. Can a few people confirm what size they are running on their 66 Coronet's or other B-body that we know has the same clearances?
Someone posted these sizes a while back. Is this the sweet spot for my car?
Front - 15x7 4.25 BS...
I'm very happy with my Mickey Thompsons Sportsman S/T's. They seem to handle track use and street use well, and aren't wearing down as fast as I'd expect them to.
Here are the sizes on my 69' Bee
Front Rim: 15x8, 4.5 bs
Front Tire: 245/60R15
Rear Rim: 15x10, 5.5 bs
Rear Tire: 295/50R15
The bottom one looks to be the Hoosier Pro Street series tire. They make huge sizes with great water evacuation grooves, but I believe they are a harder compound tire and won't get the same traction a drag radial or the bias-ply Mickey Thompson Sportsman pictured on the other two.
What are your tire/wheel sizes on those spiffy Keystones? I need to get a couple new ones, but they are out of stock everywhere. And even worse, their custom shop will not be opened back up until at least next summer.
I just looked up the two sizes of BF Goodrich I run on Fred:
225/70/15
275/60/15
Both these particular tires are manufactured in Mexico.
If you go to tirerack.com and look at the specs for a given tire, it will tell you the country of origin.
EDIT: I just checked the same sizes in Cooper Cobra...
There is a "b-bodies with 17" wheels" thread, and another, same title, except 18"
There is even a thread with bigger wheels that asks owners to give tire and wheel sizes and backspace.
...rear is 285/40r17 on the 17x9.5 rim. I was thinking the front would be 245/45r17 on the 17x8 wheel
But now I’m wondering if I could do a 275/40r17 on front with the 17x9.5?
I would love to hear your guys opinions and thoughts as well as pictures of your set ups with tiresizes. No 18”s!! 17”...
...get the correct parts to fit I don't care.
I'd use Mopar spindles if I could...I already know every part I'll need (including wheel and tiresizes) to get everyting to fit without body mods.
Not really concerned on a smaller turning radius, I'm also using a smaller 14" steering wheel which...
I ran a set in the 90's and just put a set on one of my Chargers last month. Personally, I like the the tread appearance better than the BFG, otherwise they are very comparable to the BFG tire. The dimensional sizes run slightly smaller in comparison.
Maybe Goodyear did just buy Cooper? I was...
What gives you the idea that it will give you more than what you have now? Bottoming the suspension happens when the speed of suspension travel exceeds the clearance that is needed. You need to limit the travel speed by stiffening it up (or lightening the car). Changing to a different style...
Hey,
I am going to convert my 68 charger from front drum to power disc.
What kit do you recommend?
I would like to use Magnum 500 wheels.
*What tiresizes can I use on the front and rear?
Hey just wanted to update you and all the other guys on here. I work and build tires for Goodyear in Lawton, OK. We did buy out Cooper and all their companies.
Certainly says steel right there on the website, even looks the part, too. I can't go faster than 12.0 in the 1/4 mile, 7.50 in the quarter, during the heat of summer usually not a problem but when it cools off it can get close. My drag car deals with the weight fine, but I can see where it...
