Spot on! A year ago .I started with bare block, factory crank and rods for a 440. After boring .030, 440Sourceheads, Hughes can, JE Pistons, Doug's headers, Performer RPM, and a dyno tuned Holley.....and some other items WITH machining and the build ....10k. Oh, that also included the dyno pulls.
So I have a fresh build 1977 440 .060 over. Torker 2 intake, Stealth aluminum heads, .541 intake/.537 Exhaust roller cam, Crane roller 1.5 rocker arms ( Forged crank with 440source Flat top pistons pushed by Manly aluminum connecting rods. PTC (Performance Torque converter built to a tight...
I have a cast crank 76 440 in my 63. The PO had installed the very heavy speedpro 6 pack pistons I left them and installed a set of 440source CNC Stealth heads, Isky 292 mega cam,RPM intake, Holley 750 double pumper, and Doug’s D452 headers. 3k converter and 373 gears. I’m very pleased with the...
Has any one had issue with the OEM valve covers leaking on the 440Sourceheads? I've tried a few different fixes with no luck. I saw a post in the past about this but can not recall all the details.
yeah. Was going there was a magical solution, but kinda knew that’s where things were headed.
Might be a good time to figure out what I want out of the motor (besides just to run!).
I suspect it has more cam than the heads can use. It has a set of 452 heads that had about $1500 of work done on...
Thanks for the feedback. I'll let her know that they aren't very desirable. Her husband passed away and she is just trying to get rid of the last few things.
What changes for a hyd roller cam with 440Sourceheads (other than hyd roller springs)? You say you would like to stay away from the needle bearing roller rockers. What's wrong with the 440Source stainless, bushed roller rockers? I think they look great. (And the price is wonderful.) You only...
Wait for speedmasters black friday sale, and buy a pair of cnc heads bare, and go from there. $1400 budget for sbm heads is pretty small. You could get decent sbc heads for that price.
Sidewinder or 440source would be alternates.
If you REALLY want it to run like it should...... save your...
Some goodies arrived from 440Source this week. Pair of Stealth heads. I added the competition valve job along with the 10 degree locks and retainers. Stainless roller rockers, balancer, and aluminum water pump.
Guys what is your go to Valve Cover gasket on a bigblock engine.
Mind you I run stock valve covers but on 440source aluminum heads.
I always use FelPro 1612 thick gaskets and a product that is really good for aluminum (Yama-Bond) or equivalent.
I was having good luck but not everytime...
Just messing with you. I really don’t have any recommendations, but for something different I would look at 440source first. I have had good luck with them for other parts and they are a very good company to deal with. I never heard of them until I joined this forum, and I gotta say they...
Interestingly the cylinder heads don't match.
One is 2843906 and the other is 2843908. I'm not sure what the difference is but they are probably going to the scrap heap. From what I see on the internet the resale value is minimal at best.
Still waiting on comments concerning aluminum heads...
I like a fast revving engine and I plan on running exhaust manifolds so anything larger would have been a waste. Basic plan is about 10-1 compression with 440Sourceheads, roller rockers, solid roller cam, we have not chose the cam yet. DP4B intake, AVS2 800 carb, TTI 2-1/2 full exhaust.
The Edelbrock heads don't pose any issues for me in my '70 Charger. I have a buddy with a 69 Coronet and he has the Stealth heads from 440source. His clearance is similar to mine. The Stealth heads flow better than the iron heads and they are designed to look very similar. Both sets utilize...
...88-90 cc's, not the 75 or so that Mopar says they are (they lied).
Clean the mouse turds out of the 906s, and get a estimate to freshen them up/valve job. I'm betting the 440sourceheads will start looking pretty good. There are other inexpensive aluminum heads too, sidewinder come to mind.
I decided to upgrade the drivetrain on my 1968 Dodge Charger. Out goes the tired 383 engine with the leaky 727 automatic transmission. In goes a 440 c.i. motor that's .030 over with new pistons and and a top end kit that should produce about 425 hp. Behind that goes a TCI Streetfighter...
I don’t really have a question here but just posting for the group info. When building my sons car a few years ago the one thing I really did not put a bunch of research into was the starter, because I did not think I needed too. I was getting a bunch of parts from 440Source and just went...
