Yesterday while while I was torquing down my Borgeson Steering box one of the bolts felt funny (like it was trying to give out) and another broke the hardened washer ( further inspection revealed the washer had a crack before I broke it). I was torquing the bolts using the instructions provided...
...the red car since just after I first swapped in a 440 24 years ago. Hot California sun, aggressive driving and wide tires do conspire to heat up the fluid.
I did a Borgeson swap 2 years ago on a Plymouth and added an inline cooler that I pulled from a minivan in a junkyard. Low cost and...
The Borgeson box likes more pressure than the OE box. In most cases, zero or 1 shim will remain in the relief valve on a Saginaw pump. The feel is built into the box. Unlike the ancient article of MA showing how to make the OE box harder to turn by changing the relief pressure.
so what is the shim for that people mention installing at the PS pump for use with the Borgeson box? Above it says to reduce line pressure, correct? Is this the same kind of washer shim many have done for years with the Saginaw pumps and stock boxes for increased steering feel? With the...
I did reach out Borgeson about the larger pulley. They told me I will be fine as the pump was designed to give the right amount of pressure with the larger pulley.
I just put in a Lares 11033 box with a filter. I checked the filter after a road test after installing the box and found the filter was pretty hot. I want to add a cooler, what cooler can I use that will look somewhat stock and is easy to get?

...box and direct acting linkage design is excellent.
The weak link is the sloppy steering box. It was designed at a time when the public wanted effortless steering feel. That time was LONG ago.
A Firm Feel stage 2 or 3 steering box is better than stock but a Borgeson is another leap forward.
...got remanufactured stock boxes from Firm Feel and Steer and Gear with different firmness levels (still have the center slop though), the Borgeson box that is a repurposed Jeep box (smaller, firmer than stock mopar B body, but not too firm, no center slop), and now the Lares 11033...
Where can I get this larger flare seat adapter?
...or any detailed info pics on where to grind?
When I am out driving it sounds like an egg is frying on my steering wheel.
The Doug's fit great on my 72 charger with the 440 with the exception of steering box clearance. It had the original box and the headers were right on it. I changed the box to a borgeson box and now have ample clearance
Pretty cool project. If you were one of the guys getting the hissing sound from a Borgeson box I’d say that rag joint would completely eliminate it. I’m pretty lucky that I find the stock location of the steering wheel is about perfect for me but my 8 way, dual lumbar power seats definitely...
Fast ratio on the stock Mopar box is realized from longer Pittman and idler arms. Fast ratio box would be the Borgeson unit. As stated above, getting one from BAC[ Peter Bergman] is the best place to get it. You'll get ALL OF THE NEEDED COMPONENTS when you buy it from him. Putting the Borgeson...
