In high school I had a 67 Belvedere. The rear seat back was modified to hang on the upper hooks only. We would sneak people in to the drive in movie in the trunk. Plenty easy to crawl thru once the seat back is out.

The decision to make a no compromise racecar is a good one. As we all know its still a compromise As most of us are still using the factory floor pan, firewall, rails, etc. When mine was built I focused on 3 main items. Safety, weight, ease of service.Though it still has steel bumpers, fenders...
I bought repro handles for mine 14 years ago. One side needed to reuse the factory gasket as the supplied one was the wrong shape. On the other side the supplied gasket fit, but not the factory one. So the handles were both slightly different shapes. They still look and function perfect.

I know we talked after this happened. Glad to see you're going to get on it. I've been very lucky. Side ways once at the 660. And once thru trans fluid at the shut down. It all happens so quick.

The band and frictions material is adhered with a water based glue. I see no mention that you looked those components. They may be delaminating down to the metal.

We are fortunate at this point in our lifes to have saved some money. Up to this point (5 years retired), it's been ubtouched. We have always lived very modestly. No pensions, Social Security only. Our home is small. We have zero debt. My two sons do very well. They both have told me to bounce...

Fabbing the inner corners will be the toughest. My bet is it needs the entire rear vertical portion replaced. Can it be done? Yes, but it'll be pretty tough for a first timer. If you are not pretty good at welding sheet metal and are willing to learn hammer forming I'd say it's going to be very...
To me it appears to be well done. As far as extra load tearing stuff apart? Two things come to mind. First is this system is supplemental. So the extra load can't be that much. Second there are plenty of unibody cars that use coil spring mounting. Thefactory upper control arm mount sees plenty...
For sure Mark was the driver. We raced together in N/SS for over 10 years. Their entire group and ours were pretty close. Damon had a 73 Challenger back then. Today he has a Nostalgia funny car called Passin Gas

Raced against them many times. Car was owned by Dan Bell and driven by Mark Artis. They called me the "Yankee". Lots of kidding back and forth and fun between us. We hung chrome fender skirts on it once as a joke. The others in the group, Kenny Eakles and Damon Kuhn are still around. Damon...
Ran a .500 pro tree S/S race at Milan today. Of course foot braking against the adjustable trans brake button cars. I was late in Q1 & Q2 .065, .061. Car was fast. Able to take the weight out. Ran a 9.0257 with 40 lbs still bolted in. Pulled it out for Q2 and ran 8.9630. Unfortunantely pulled...
