Ran a .500 pro tree S/S race at Milan today. Of course foot braking against the adjustable trans brake button cars. I was late in Q1 & Q2 .065, .061. Car was fast. Able to take the weight out. Ran a 9.0257 with 40 lbs still bolted in. Pulled it out for Q2 and ran 8.9630. Unfortunantely pulled Darrell Caravino 1st rd. We've raced before and he's as tough as the come. I have maybe 20 paases on a pro tree in my life. Close race but didn't get it done. His .0172/9.914 on a 9.91 dial to my .0335/8.982 on a 8.98 dial. Made a decent run, just not good enough. So what's new in the off season? Engine has 376 runs. Going to take it apart and look. Still just as fast, oil filters have been clean, no drop in oil pressure. We will see. The trans will come apart and the rear gears will be inspected. The real news is the truck camper and trailer are sold. Tried a few motor homes. They were not for us. Maintenance, fuel cost, insurance, plates, and tires were all more than we wanted. Started asking and looking at gooseneck trailers with living space. Found a real nice one and picked it up last week. 2015 46 ft Vintage tri axle gooseneck. The truck will be undergoing an overhaul as well. 95 Cummins 3500. Has a fresh, tires, shocks, brakes, trans and clutch. Going to get new suspension bushings, oil leak repair, front fenders (rust hole), exhaust brake, drivers seat cover, and possible turbo/injector upgrade. The rest is in excelelnt shape. This is the trailer.

48 feet should have enough room for everything. We had a 20 foot gooseneck to load with hay, and farm animals. Forgot how many cows fit. Lots of hitch weight works.
I will have a few engine questions coming soon. Not touching the gear box any more. It works fine.
Under nine seconds is darn fast.

Love your energy level, Doug. Kind of inspirational.

Emptied the old trailer today. Got all the pit pal stuff, genetator, parts, chairs, etc out. The garage is a disaster.

We are fortunate at this point in our lifes to have saved some money. Up to this point (5 years retired), it's been untouched. We have always lived very modestly. No pensions, Social Security only. Our home is small. We have zero debt. My two sons do very well. They both have told me to bounce my last check, lol. Selling of the old trailer and camper cut the investment by 50%. My racing expenses and racecar itself is still funded by sidework. My wife and i decided to enjoy what we like to do while we still can do it. I'm 71, she's 70. Currently in great health. So it's time to have some fun. Speking of fun. Installing the under bed hitch on my back in the driveway today. Of course the fit for one bolt into a prethreaded 1" thick braket was off about .030". Took 45 minutes to coax it into posistion. The Air-Lift bags will have to be remounted as they share the same location as the hitch supports. That's next.

Forget the air bags and get you some Timbrens. Nice trailer. What do you think the pin weight will end up being?

second that on the Timbrins, my buddy uses them on all his 1 ton trucks that haul his equipment all over the eastern part of the country with great success !
