The factory never painted the inside of the aircleaner with wrinkle paint. Would catch dirt, possible come off and go into the engine or filter. Always see smooth paint inside them.
I just spoke to the guy who rebuilt my starter. He said he found the starter was working hot. I found the old battery cable was kind of shot, so I changed it last week. I kind of feel the bad battery cable was probably drawing too much current and was making the starter hot. There is only one...
Maybe try heating the barrel sleeve with a torch, that should expand the sleeve off the stud and you might be able to back it out
with small vice grips. Make sure you have a good "bite" on the sleeve after you heat it before turning it out.
