Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

Do you think there is any credence to this QS oil being excellent for a flat tappet engine? And possibly break in procedures being done improperly thinking it was the way to go for all these years? Is the oils high film strength a reality? Its amazingly high in PSI. Maybe this blog shouldn't...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

Most of us have heard of the increase in flat tappet camshaft and lifter failures over the last 20 years. Some of us have actually had it happen, even more than once. I have. FOUR times too. The blame has never been able to be attributed to one issue but is often spread around a few things. The...

In my opinion.... it still comes down to the comp ratio you have, and the deck height. That will determine how much cam you CAN use, and how much you SHOULD use. And without that info, we are all just spinning wheels. Check out a comp ratio calculator to find out all the info you need to have to...

Here are two cars that are a prime example of the cost/price and condition difference. A 1974 and a 1972. Can the 74 be brought to the condition of the 72 for the $9500 price difference? 1974 Plymouth roadrunner $12000 dropped to $10500 1972 Plymouth satellite/roadrunner tribute $20000

Anybody need anything moved from Maryland to Florida early Thanksgiving week?

    Camshaft sizing help

Duration and cam timing have more effect on piston to valve than lift. At full lift, the piston is WAY down the hole. I made a cutter, out of an old valve, used a drill motor, and an old head as a fixture, and cut my own reliefs. Pick the lift you want, then get the shortest duration you can...

65 Belvedere II that just followed me home

Probably ought to be decided quickly: whatever metal comes off is going to attack every bearing. Had a near-twin to that many years ago; gold interior car with power windows that ran up & down like guillotines. Last I heard, it's still in NorCal and being enjoyed.

The factory rated compression ratios by Mopar are usually 1/2-1 point optimistic. Your 67 with closed chamber heads was probably closer to 9.5 to 1. Does it still have the standard bore 1967 pistons in it? If not, compression ratio could be anything. For reference, we had a cast piston flat...
