Well this weekend is my first time changing a rearmainseal ever. Engine still inthecar. Seen some videos but they cover Ford and Chevy. I know to install the side with the lip towards the front of the engine and to have each half a bit off center. I just am not sure about the side seal...
Hey, new to this forum and i wanted to make a post about my project this winter and the progress i have so far.
My car is a 1977 Chrysler Cordoba with a 400, 727 and 8.25 rear axle that i bought earlier this year, thecar is in good condition except for a few minor rust spots here and there and...
On this block the drivers side of the retainer needed to be flush with the back of the block for perfect alignment, and moved .020 forward to align on the passenger side. No way to know this incar. The retainer slides a lot, always offset thesealin problem blocks if changinginthecar or use...

With the master cylinder bench bled and installed, I finished up a few more things. Mary helped bleed the hydraulic clutch, then I poured in 4 gallons of 91 octane gas, connected the lead wire to the starter, connected the battery, filled thecarburetor float bowls with gas, checked all my...
Great car and great thread! Have you tried changing your oil pressure sending unit. If this is leaking it looks a lot like therearmainseal. Changingthe oil pressure sending unit helped a lot on my 360 Cordoba.
Good luck changing it with the motor inthecar. Been there done that! Consider the new style rearseal and holder that's out there but don't deviate from theinstructions or you'll be doing it twice or maybe three times.
well, I have a oil leak; appears to be therearmainseal. Haven't driven thecar with the new motor since cancer surgery at the VA. Went out for a shake down run and noticed oil dripping from the bell housing. After pulling the oil pan, I find out the engine builder didn't install the...
the engine in my car lasted about 4 mos, then I was leaking oil like a siv, thought it was therearmainseal, as it was not running poorly at all.
turned out I spun a bearing inthemain cap...fast forward: got a 400 block, re-installed theinternals from the 383 to the 400, except replaced...
I've had a couple guys ask, so here's the story.
After I finished off the '64 build last summer, http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?35850-64-330-Street-Hemi-build (shameless plug) I spent the rest of the time driving and breaking it in. Early on I noticed oil dripping from...
Good luck with your new build, Blown Injected now that sounds like a fun build to me...
Go for it, have fun...
I hope all issues gets resolved with the other engine & get sorted out, that makes you & your engine builder Eddie, both happy with the resolution... like you said parts break...
Picked up a felpro gasket set to seal up my 1974 318 which seams to be leaking everything from everywhere. Today I pulled my timing cover, valve covers and oil pan. The heads and valve covers had a lot of hard oil gunk buildup, but since the engine is inthecar I couldnt think of a way to clean...
The original wheel were stolen form my uncle (org owner). He just bought some cheaper dog dish style but they have the wrong offfset so they rub and wear out the tires pretty quickly. They are trailor wheels, I have had a hard time finding the right size wheels 14x5.0 with an off set of +0.5. My...
There I was, laying on my back under my charger changingtherearmainseal with the engine inthecar. I moved my light around and it reflected off something shiny by the left front tire. I roll the creeper that way, and what do I see? a 3/4 Craftsman wrench wedged against the upper control...
Hi Adam, I'm no expert in this area, but I remembered this thread - short & sweet - may be worth checking the float levels while running. Symptoms sounds like what you experienced.
