Trip Through Time The Ford River Rouge Plant

There is scary **** in most steel mills. I remember as a pre-teen going to a program offered by United States Steel at Edgar Thompson plant. We got to see up close all parts of steel making. The heat that radiated from everything is incredible. Later now as a steel hauler truck driver, I have...

    AGM Batteries in older cars

My wife's AGM in her Jeep GC lasted 11 years. The starter and the fact that it is her car I just replaced it. In hind sight I should have kept it and cored a really dead POS, oh well. I have a AGM in a couple of cars. They actually are a lead acid battery, just the acid is in a (wait for it)...

Bell housing, Clutch and Pressure Plate Recommendations for TKX Swap

Use a 143 tooth steel flywheel. Lakewood makes a aftermarket aluminum bell housing with both starter bolt patterns and accepts A833, and Tremec Ford style bolt pattern and uses concentric rings for different input bearing retainers. A 130 tooth flywheel cannot use a new modern starter on a big...

    Orange box breaking up?

If it is a new orange box it probably will not work well in the heat, the transistor on the front is fake and just done with internal circuitry. If it is a older box the ground could be a problem, best to run a ground off mounting bolt to battery.

How do you set up your Alignment for strip?

I agree with you. As long as your pieces aren't bent and you can get tie rod sleeves to be at equal angles (pitman arm and idler in same plane/level with each other) bump steer should be reduced.

How do you set up your Alignment for strip?

Not drag racing per-say, but some good visual cause and effect. He is a dirt track racer normally, and some autocross.

Has anyone seen this while installing a big block in place of a small block?

The studs are too long on these new/replacement mounts. Remove from engine, cut the excess stud from mount face towards the engine block, the plates will rest higher up in toward the block and allow it to settle down in mounts on K frame. Had this issue last summer dummying my sons motor into...

Excessive Fan Noise due to fan speed

Another thing to mention about fan clutches is the way they are stored. Can't remember which way you are supposed to store them, but if the fan clutch you bought was not stored "correctly" it will take some driving to reset/release it.

Excessive Fan Noise due to fan speed

Always use a fan clutch. Chrysler developed these in the 1950's. The don't require as much power with a more aggressive fan. Thermal units will move toward lock up as unit gets hot, now if it's 5" away from radiator you are losing some of this action. Only cheap cars with small radiators should...

P.O.S. Turn signal switch! Who makes a good one?

Believe the '69 and earlier to '66 I think are the same '70 up are easiest, plastic harness connector can go through column with string that you pulled up when you pulled out old switch. '69 and earlier have to have wires pulled out of plastic connector to pull them back down through them...

How to make a better home cooked hamburger ?

My wife has been adding dry French onion soup mix to ground beef for burgers for years. Worcestershire is a good additive. Salt and pepper always. Cooked in cast iron skillet is best IMHO.
