383 is an amazing motor, I have built many, I actually have one in a 70 2 wd d100 (original dude truck) 727.
I would use the stock rods, if your rods are good use them, the best part about building a 383 is low cost, so keep it that way.
the heads really depend on what it will cost you to get...
Ita just a much my fault, not sure why this box was so hard to send, it now says
The package is delayed and will not be delivered by the expected delivery date. An updated delivery date will be provided when available. Your item arrived at our JERSEY CITY, NJ 07097 origin facility on April 6...
I listed a set of bumpers here on the forum, and I sold them to partsmonster.
It took me a few days to ship them out, I tried to box them as well as I could, put each in a box, and then all of them boxes in another box with padding, and wrapping.
a week later the bumpers show back up at my...
He is going with the roller bearing the bushing I have wont go in his crank with out some machining so that roller bearing is the best bet.
I think if he dials in the center and gets the tranny mounted perfect it should be fine.
Im not sold on that needle bearing assembly, I remember a conversation with wayne where he said he had a couple failures after a while and it caused shaft damage.
I am going to call them today and see what he is doing now, its been a while since i had to deal with this, I normally put a manual...
A friend of mine called me today he needs the crank bushing to put a manual trans with an auto crank, I have 1 of them I got from napa a while back, I gave him the number 615-1933 and he said that napa doesnt have them.
Anyone know where to get these now, I hate to give up my last one, and he...
...so if you have a 3/8" line which is 3/32 I have a tee that I made with a cap and a 3/32 hole drilled into it, a gauge and valve. So I can test a 3/*" hose pressure drop. Ill bet you are down below 70psi before the compressor kicks on.
A good psi differential is 25psi, some guys go a bit...
Im not sure if someone mentioned this but I will NEVER mess with coatings again, just have it polished and if you want a color stain it. It will be there forever. Every floor I have had done we polished and stained, acid washed, and they held up great.
The only down fall to polishing is, it...
For a little compressor like that you can do a few things to help with performance and ease of use.
1 is an after cooler that was already mentioned, plenty of threads on how to accomplish this
another is to install a small starter, that pump is using the psi switch as a high amp switch, this...
IM HOME, well Im back to where I was anyway, not sure if I would call it home, still in builders guest house.
They let me go this morning, everything is good, I am on some heavy duty blood thinners, still trying to get used to that, got some bruises already!! Bumped my arm getting out of bed...
I haven't been on much do to a little trouble with the old ticker, mine was made before timex lol
I had a stent put in and now I am having clotting near it, I blame this on age, not eating bad, refusing to exercise, or all of the stress I have dealt with over the years, nope this is do to being...
Orange stripe should be hot, open your dizzy mine had a Blue cover on the magnetic pickup, and my orange stripe is hot. Look up the instructions for the magneto if you want to be sure, I JUST replaced one 3 days ago, lol so the instructions are on my box right now.
Part number 84661 , it was...
I have had high end air tools die in the first 15 minutes, 1 in particular I am thinking of was a snap on crud thug actually, lol and another one that didnt make day 1 was a Hutchins board sander, I also had an ir air ratchet last a few weeks after maybe 10 uses. I think you are more likely to...
I have a 70 charger on a spinner right now if you want me to measure it, I believe its 19, that one is on a Derrick weaver, I have a couple now and have had a few different rotors over the years, including customs, a Rotary lifts proto type (for testing), 2 separates for truck beds and cabs, I...
Hey Steve, first the reason your top is not "hot" when the key is off is because mopar uses a lower amp circuit to actuate the motor, kind of like an ignition switch, that small switch could never handle full starting amps, so they use a solenoid or relay to handle the amperage.
Next, if you do...
Do you have a lift? I have done this, I would drop everything, tank, rear, trans, lines, cables, all plugs.
heat gun with scraper, then use this guy https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TDFRI6/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER to get it perfect.
then prime it and paint it...
We built a 440 6 pack with 906 heads, heads were worked a little, intake was worked a little (all he did was match them and for some reason melted the bbl holes in a bit, instead of dropping straight down, he melded them in.
That motor had a roller cam (thmpr) if I am remembering correctly, a...
I was at house in Jamestown, RI looking at a 67 camaro for a friend of mine about 15 years ago, the gentleman worked for Bose radios, had a toy box with 9-10 classic cars in it and ever wall covered in car art, the coolest piece was a wrecked earnhardt race car hanging upside down from the...
This is the worst, I hate rally dash wiring issues, especially with new parts. That being said, I have some experience with them.
First thing is if hot wires are bare/rubbing grounded metal parts, it is only a matter of time before you have a "Car-BQ", I had a buddy who kept marshmallows in his...
