Thanks Ed, interesting video,
I am parting ways with BFG, for me the extra $40 / $50 per tire is not worth it.
My current BFGs have aged out I'm just not comfortable at speed with 10 yr old rubber.
I was just curious what the opinions were. 496polara did give me some info I was unaware of...
Going with 255/60/15 on the rear and 205/70/15 front.
Rear wheels are 15x7 4" bs
Front are 15x5.5
No more BFGs for me.
I'm looking at Master craft Avenger Gts
Or Cooper Cobras.
I know the coopers have a decent rep but what's the verdict on the Master Craft.
The both are a T speed rate or...
This may have been brought up,
As a kid working in a DX station in the 70s. I was shown that if you have a good wheel/tire combo that is hard to balance or taking more weight than seems right.
You break the tire down and rotate it 90 or 180 degrees and balance again.
Most of the time that...
Local tire shop I use is getting me a set of 4 Cooper Cobras.
255/60/15 & 215/70/15
$700 ready to roll
I have a pair of 15×7 with 4"bs and a pair of 15 x 5 &1/2 for the front.
I need to blast the wheels and prime/paint them.
Late Christmas present to the 67 :drinks:
I had a set of Bridgstone Duelers, go a little over 40,000 on a 4x4 silverado.
I do rotate each 4th or 5th oil change.
They were a all season tread with a closed / solid shoulder.
Just keep outward pressure on the wheel as you loosen, few turns then to the next one,
Keep pulling on the wheel & going around the pattern until it comes off.
Thanks for all the input guys, sounds like cooper has most all the votes.
My BFGs are 9 yrs now so it's time to replace them. I will try a set of coopers this time. I will make the switch to 15s this time also. Just need 2 more steel wheels.
Thanks again.
They will never look new again unless you are willing to spend many hrs on them.
I'm not a big fan of them ethire, but hell I run black steel lol.
If you like them polish them up a little and stick them on the car.
15s have a better selection for tire sizes.
14s though still seem to have a pretty decent amount of new tires available.
60s 70s 75s.
Hard to tell the difference on a car unless you go read the side wall.
I would keep the 14s, some of stock look restorations still run hub caps.
Lol, I just...
I have a pair of 15 x 6.5 , I'm sure some call them 7".
They are 3.5 " back space. I was going to call around a few local yards to locate another pair.
Does the 80s /90s 1/2 ton Van's and pickups use that wheel ?
Thanks.
When wheel shopping if your looking at used road wheels aka magnum 500s pay close attention to the lug holes.
Make sure they are not worn out from years, and over tightening.
Without your hub centered worn lug holes will make the wheel near impossible to mount and balance straight.l...
Heck , 14 , 15 , going down the street good luck telling the difference.
Even walking up to a car your going to have to read the side wall to tell.
True the tire selection is better for 15s .
If you want to get it rolling you could run 15x7 all around. Once the 8s are available get a pair .
Sell one pair of the 7s and get part of your $ back.
