Have a new 727 hooked up to motor, in the car. Have not run it yet. Filling it with fluid, only three quarters so far. The fluid is running out the tail shaft around the rear spline. Drive shaft not in place. This isn't normal, is it??
Have ARP flexplate to crank bolt kit for 727 auto to 383 B block. Came with ARP lube. Do I use ARP lube instead of blue locktite? Do I use one or the other or both?
Well, replacing freeze plugs, all going well then of course the last one got sideways on me and dropped into the block. Rear driver side. Can't see it or get to it. Tried with a telescoping magnet but no luck. Guess I'm gonna have to leave it in there. I'm hoping it wont to cause any blockage...
I am trying to set up a Mopar electronic ignition system (part. no. 440-427 for 383, 4-pin). Going into an old 50 Ply. Coupe. This is all new to me. Does this system require an external voltage regulator or starter relay? The instructions mention neither. If so, how should they be wired into...
Anyone know the length intake bolts should be? The motor I have, has a mish-mash of bolts on rocker covers, manifolds, etc. I'm buy new bolts and don't have original fasteners on the motor to go by.
Thanks
Looks like the alternator bolt hole on the front of the pass. side head of my 383 is hogged out with what appears to be the broken end of the holt about a half inch deep. Anyone have any luck repairing this with a heli coil, ez lock or Time Sert? Also, thought about making a bracket utilizing...
So, like many others, I had to cut some length off a new pickup tube. It was about 1/2 inch too long so I cut it and ran a thread cleaner on it so it screws in nicely. However, all the way in and tight it is about 180 deg. from where it needs to be. I have to turn it counter clock wise to fit...
Got this for my 383. First time dealing with pointless ignition. I don't see a rotor under the cap or in the box with the other stuff. Do these things not use a rotor?
I'm updating a long block for a 383 big block. Is there a guide or resource to consult as to which gaskets need sealer and what kind to use for a new water pump and housing, timing chain cover, fuel pump, oil pump and oil pan?
Thanks
I need to get the flange/pipe that attaches directly to the factory exhaust manifold on a 383. The motor is going in a 1950 Plymouth so I have to make the exhaust system but can't find what the piece is called or who supplies it. Anyone have any info I can use?
Is it possible to check compression by hand turning the crank using a breaker bar or does it need to be spun up faster via a starter?
(My motor is on a stand and I don't have a starter yet but when I tried turning by hand I couldn't get any readings. However, the timing chain is really...
I got a set of Headman block huggers for my 68 383 going into my Coupe. The motor is an hour away from where I live and want to know what size bolts I will need for the exhaust manifold studs? The motor didn't come with any.
What nuts size fits?
Also, can I use the studs or will I need to...
I have a 383 motor for my 50 Ply Coupe. The guy I bought it from pulled if from an old Barracuda he bought, but it wasn't the original motor for the car.
The block stamp reads 2468130 and the stamp by the distributor has D383 6 10 2 then below R. The heads are 2951250 and the factory 4 barrel...
So if I have my 383 on a run stand to get it sorted out, what do I use to engage the starter to turn it over? It will ultimately be mated to an AT (don't have one yet). Do I get a flex plate and torque converter with ring gear to work with the starter? Will it run ok on the stand with that or...
Hey all. I got ARP 240-2501 bolt for my 68' 383 motor. I don't have a crank pulley yet but screwed all the way in it sticks out this far. The total length of the shank of the bolt is about 2 3/16", I am assuming this is too long? If so, is there a part number or vendor who would have the right...
My first car, (1977) was a 68' SuperBee, hemi orange with a 383 magnum. 4 speed, posi. Had headers, torker intake, holley 780. Straight thrush exhaust. Bought it with 85000 mile, for $500! Haven't played with cars since until about 5 yrs ago bought a 1950 Buisiness Coupe.
Been working on it...
