    6.4 Hemi With 727-Gearvendors Setup

I've got that exact setup in my '66 Charger. Works very well. 3.55 rear. Averaged a little over 18MPG over 2400 miles or so on the Power Tour earlier in June.

    66-67 charger photos

Looks awesome. I had to go with 18" wheels for my brakes. And I like 'em! Any pictures of the engine compartment?

    gen 3 hemi and trans

I got my "engine only" harness and computer from Hotwire Auto - it's pretty common, as the same setup that would work with the engine and a manual transmission. "Simple" is of course relative, as is "Best." I went with the newest (lowest mileage) motor I could find, and ended up with a 6.4...

1966 Charger, 6.4 Hemi - on the road

Which spintech's? I know they make a lot of different models / shapes / sizes. Kind of like flowmaster - I used the 50 series (what they call an SUV) muffler on a past project, and it was a nice deep mellow sound, which makes sense from a resonant frequency standpoint. My buddy with the 6.1 Hemi...

1966 Charger, 6.4 Hemi - on the road

Thanks, Darious. 2.5" exhaust, Dynomax mufflers - it's the TTI H pipe exhaust. It does sound nice, and it's pretty quiet, which is great for cruising and longer drives, but I sometimes would like it to be a little more menacing. I've considered swapping in (similarly sized) spintech mufflers...

1966 Charger, 6.4 Hemi - on the road

Greetings - I sourced my harness and ecm via Hotwire Auto. The ecm does have Dave's name on it, literally. The folks at Hotwire were great to work with on this build, as well as the 6.1 / Duster swap I was a part of a couple years ago.

    1970 Satellite getting a 6.1 Hemi

It seems that every kit I saw added up to a lot more than the sum of its parts? If you're set up with an in tank pump, the popular way to go (and how I went) seems to be the "Corvette filter/regulator" setup at the rear. You'll need: Filter: Wix 33737 Fittings: Russell 644110 - 5/16 quick...

    Grille / headlight alignment

Any tips / tricks for lining up the magnificent grille on my '66? The passenger side looks about right, but the drivers side is wonky - just a little off, but it's very noticeable with all those little vertical lines... Do I just start loosening bolts and wiggling things, or is there a...

budget 5.7 hemi tr6060 six speed trans swap

Could you move the cable x box up under the dash, to minimize the length of speedo cable that has to be driven? Or even mount it directly to the speedo? I've never used one of those boxes, so I have no idea how large it even is...

    Another 5.7 swap Question

The flexplate is ATI part# 915685. Summit and Jegs both have them, no big deal. The only consideration is that it's drilled for a converter that uses 3/8" bolts, so keep that in mind if you haven't bought a converter yet. My low stall JW converter uses the smaller 5/16" bolts, so I needed...

    Looks like I'm 3rd!

I love that car - did you previously post the paint manufacturer / formula? Can we have it, regardless? I love the ZZ1 color -it's what my car is supposed to be.

    67 coronet 500 5.7 carbed hemi project

Except for the water pump pulley, driven by the back of the belt, which has very little coverage... My 6.4 is very similar - not much wrap on that pulley, but it seems to work!

6.1 supercharged hemi swap in my 70 Plymouth Roadrunner

The first thing I can think of is that the trans will need to be a small block bellhousing - the one bolted up to your 440 won't work, unfortunately. Perhap swap the guts to a small block case? You'll need a new dipstick (the factory used a pan mounted dipstick) If you use a drive by wire...

    Modern Bullitt build

I spy the distinctive black cardboard box from hydratech! Aside from, well, everything, your build is just like mine! (well, RMS suspension, same Wilwood brakes, hydraboost, and a gen III hemi, at least). That's an awesome car.

1966 Charger, 6.4 Hemi - on the road

The modern mopar overdrive units are bigger, physically, and I wanted to avoid cutting the floor in the car. The 727 and GV overdrive works well for me, so I stuck with it... - - - Updated - - - Wow, sounds like you're building a great car. I've got the full RMS setup as well, with wilwood...

budget 5.7 hemi tr6060 six speed trans swap

Wow. Impressive work, there. The engine really looks like it belongs - and that trans tunnel came out nice, especially for a part that's going to be completely covered up!

1966 Charger, 6.4 Hemi - on the road

Cost... Hmm... It's best to not add it up. The motor was pulled from a wrecked 2014 SRT Jeep. The computer and harness, plus plumbing, a little fabrication. It's not a cheap thing, but boy, it sure does run nicely. Much of the build of the car is @ 1966Charger.com, up to about May of this...

1966 Charger, 6.4 Hemi - on the road

Well, it's (mostly) complete. Put probably 75 miles on it on Saturday, and so far it's just what I was looking for. I still have to add in a fan controller (The Dakota Digital PAC-2750) won't calibrate to my factory gauge - rats), and complete the wiring to the factory tach driver, but it's all...
