I replaced the original radiator in my 73 Charger 400 , Automatic transmission , Air Conditioned car , both tanks are not dented up , seems Glenn Ray is the only option to fix this radiator - it needs a core for sure
here's my thread on the replacement with pic's of the radiator...
The Champion Radiator looks great and fit great , all I had to do was trim the original shroud at the top by the filler neck. I cut 1/2 inch off.
The Pro from Rock Auto was decent for a regular driver car , but it was also about 25$ more than the Champion from Jegs
I also added a MP...
The "Pro" radiator from Rock Auto is a pretty good replacement , it is copper/brass and mounts as the original , but as you can see it has smaller tanks. I also noticed it has 4 less rows of cooling tubes than the stock 28 that is the original radiator.
I did try another shop for my tired...
Today I picked up my original all cleaned up , they did not charge me , I had called Glen Ray yesterday
Glen Ray had called me back on this
they said that when the tanks are originally stamped out , they end up thin in spots near the corners and ribs due to the stamping process , they silver...
supposedly the tanks have some cracks , I figure if they could do it they'd want the $$ , it must be worse than I thought or it looks
Glen Ray has some nice radiators !! I can see using them on a numbers matching car for sure !
thanks for the resource !
I took my original radiator to the local , well known , been in buisness since the 40's radiator shop yesterday , Ropples Radiator in Louisville Ky ,
The radiator and shroud came with my non running car when I got it , it had a chunk out of one of the cores tubes , but looked pretty decent so...
I have used PPG DBI for the grey leather seats in my F150 ( I replaced the seat bottom and resprayed the seat back to match ) and some other soft interior trim in my Lincoln Mark 8 , it does not rub off , It is great stuff , surface prep will be key , there is a adhesion promoter for plastic...
Mice and their liquid waste will ruin an engine like nothing you could imagine , My Charger's cylinder walls and valves and seats looked like there was some kind of acid poured on them - completely ruined and pitted badly
pull it apart to see what you've got to work with, at least pull the...
On a 400 HP small block , my opinion is that a 600 is way too small , especially the Eddy carbs + aren't those screws only the idle mixture anyways ? if you have the idle screw in too far they dont even matter anyways because it runs on a different metering circuit. what is your fuel psi ?
try...
Charger
I got over to the shop last night and with some of your help i'm certain I got it figured out !
the lower control arm bushing is almost gone , It was really hard to tell being all covered in grease. The arm , though its got some scrapes in it , looks straight.
I got the...
I figured since it was a Charger someone may have tried to be the Dukes of Hazzard sometime in its life and the way the BB fenderwell is way open on the passenger side I was concerned.
I actually took it to a local body shop once I discovered this, the owner looked it over and didn't want...
Thanks for the replies , I probably have two things going on here .. keep in mind this car is only lot driveable right now - it didn't run when I got it plus the guy was hard to understand (messed up mentally)
I should have started with the fact that this car was in a fender bender on that...
Has anyone had to replace a bent lower control arm ?
My barn/yard find 73 Charger has a wierd r/f suspension issue , with the Torsion bars at the same thread adjustment , the right side is an inch lower , the lower arm has some scrapes on the bottom but doesn't look bent to the eye , even...
