So I finally got my cold case radiator tested and this thing is amazing. I have been messing with my quickfuel carb from don at FBO trying to get the 4-corner idle screws adjusted for a leaner idle. This cold case radiator with their dual fan and shroud kept it running perfectly the whole...
I'm not sure whats on the car. It's the starter we've had on the car since bought back in '01. The nut size that i took off the car is a 9mm (or at least that is what socket finally fit it)
Hey guys. Doing some rewiring and somehow the smaller gauge post on my starter is stripped. I dont want to take that pos starter out, but i can't get my gauge on there to see what the threads are to put a die on it. Anyone have one laying around to measure, or might know off hand what it is or...
Yeah for the main power line from the alternator to the starter solenoid/battery, i'll be going by the alternator mfg recommendation and using the 6AWG wire for the 100a alternator. Then from that post, i'll be running 10AWG wires into the dash to take over the work of the ammeter wires...
I was actually hoping you were going to see this thread. Digging around last night, i saw your input on the A body forum i think (or maybe the charger forum) and was curious on your pro ammeter take.
So if i only eliminate the bulkhead connector weakpoint, i can keep the ammeter connected...
I appreciate the input. Ive got a full sound system w subwoofers that are disconnected right now, but i forgot that even when i hook it all up, itsiall on dedicated lines to the battery. So youre right, for core system draws, the 10 gauge should be plenty. I do plan on installing AC next year.
Oh! I almost forgot, do we still leave the wiring from the dual field connections coming off the alternator that go to the voltage regulator? I think ill be getting the tuff stuff voltage regulator to go with the alternator. Those wires we dont reroute, delete, or otherwise change right?
Ok then I guess ill pull that main bulkhead off the firewall and drill it out. Sounds like i may need to go bigger than a 10g wire. IllIbe doing either the 100 or the 130 amp tuff stuff alternator. I like their fit and finish. And allegedly, according to themselves, they have good low rpm...
So when yall do this alternator upgrade, are you guys following the MAD ammeter bypass from http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges.shtml ? Is this a pretty good guide for doing this? I Have all brand new wiring in the car including the bulkhead, so i'm not too keen on drilling...
I have all new wiring for the engine harness, dash harness, rear light harness, forward light harness. I went wiring crazy last year, it's all the M&H stuff from year one.
I'll take a look at the fans i got ( its from cold case here on the forum) and see what draw they have.
If i go with a...
So as i'm finishing up my front end after having to pull my timing chain cover, I go to install my alternator with my new arp bolt kit from 440source with the spacers and all. They didn't fit like the janky rusted spacers I had. I noticed that one of the 2 main mounting holes for the really...
Wow that is pretty wild. What brand did you go woth on the water pump? I just installed one from 440source. We have their stealth heads. They seem to do great work. I'll see how the pump setup goes.
Thanks for responding. I didnt even know 28" units were a thing. Haha. I just assumed the normal 26" would work (thats what i get for assuming.)
Whats the rough time frame for yall finishing the 28" units? I may just make this unit work. Was thinking of going to a local fabrication shop...
It's a '73. The old radiator has a core of 26 3/8" across, with a total width including brackets of 31.5". It's an odd shape. When i research radiators for this car year, they're all coming up with the sizing of the radiator that i bought.
Thanks for confirming the radiator mounting style...
Hey everyone, I have a new situation i'm running into as I complete my fuel and cooling upgrades. This new cold case radiator is a tank! Nicely built and looks awesome. I got the dual elec fans to go with it.
The issue i'm running into is the brackets that came with the radiator are about a...
Mine has been bypassed for nearly 15 years. haha. Came out senior year to a passenger floorboard full of radiator fluid. I just rebuilt my heater box with all new material from http://detroitmuscletechnologies.com (awesome site btw). I decided not to spend the extra 100+ bucks on a new heater...
