    71 Bonnet (Hood) Rattle

After doing some more fault finding and then investing in a new pair of hood hinges the noise is gone. So, yes worn out hood hinges can cause a "front end" rattle. Appreciate the help that others here offered.

    71 Bonnet (Hood) Rattle

The thought had crossed my mind. However, the torsion bar didn't feel particularly loose. If I remember correctly it had to be helped in. Also, my son says he could feel the knock on the bottom of the cowl panel - immediately above the evaporator / heater box. This would suggest not the torsion...

    Yes, all are installed.

    71 Bonnet (Hood) Rattle

I have a 71 satellite and have been chasing a knock / rattle coming from the front. For a while I was convinced it was the front end. But everything has been replaced - the front end is tight. The back if the bonnet (hood) seems to move around a bit and this is when the noise occurs. When the...

    Lower Control Arm Pivot Shafts

So, I think I am finally coming to the end of this journey. Summit Racing really went all out to help me on this. However, the manufacturer has drawings that confirm the dimensions of the parts they supplied. Despite this Summit is refunding my money without question - I cannot complain about...

    Upper Arm CAM Bolts

As per above, after thinking about it a bit more, I agree with your view.

    Upper Arm CAM Bolts

Here is a screen shot of what I have seen. However, digging a bit deeper the claims seem to be overstated. For example if you go to the Moog K8243A part number it then only talks about 1-1/8 degrees, which is really very much the same as the others. So sorry all, a false lead.

    Upper Arm CAM Bolts

Just trying to achieve some reasonable positive caster. Have re-bushed and ball jointed all of front end before and left side has had trouble getting enough caster. However, I have had problems that I am now resolving with worn LCA pivot shafts. Also, I will thoroughly check the LCA and radius...

    Upper Arm CAM Bolts

Yeah, I know there are the offset Moog bushes, but I have seen cam bolts advertised that offer 2-1/4 camber / caster adjustment. Not sure if this is actually possible through the cam bolts.

    Upper Arm CAM Bolts

I see that some cam bolts sold offer 2-1/4 degree camber / caster adjustment. Do they actually increase the range of adjustment available for camber and caster? Are they worth the trouble? Or just stick with the originals?

    Lower Control Arm Pivot Shafts

Unfortunately the manufacturer claims the supplied parts dimensions are to their drawings. Seeing their drawing they are. Still does not explain why they are under size. I am reaching out to PST (who is not the manufacturer in question) for some help. Hopefully they have the right sizes. I have...

    Lower Control Arm Pivot Shafts

Taper diameter is too small, already on the shoulder. As you said - screwed!!

    Lower Control Arm Pivot Shafts

I agree with you regarding the tolerances - as an engineer it didn't make sense to me, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. The old saying of ask questions first before firing off. For the life of me I cannot understand why it is so difficult to make aftermarket parts that fit...

    Lower Control Arm Pivot Shafts

Don't want to mention company names just yet as I has written back to the supplier and manufacturer regarding the issue. When I have an outcome I am happy to share then.

    Lower Control Arm Pivot Shafts

I purchased new lower control arm shafts as I am chasing a knock in the front end. The fit of the shafts in the new LCA bushes (rubber), when I did it 18 months ago, was not an interference fit anymore. So I have decided to invest in new shafts. and bushes again. Have gone to do the job, and...

    Sticky brake pedal

I had the same problem with these after market generic boosters. The comments above are correct. It is the heat on the booster that causes the seal on the bakelite piston on the input rod to get tight. This is because they hang off brackets from the firewall and are more exposed to engine bay...

71 Back Seat Frames and Springs

Anyone have a photo(s) of '71 back frame and springs. Mine are very soft, my kids make the seat bottom. Was hoping to understand what the arrangement looks like. Is it just the zig zag springs? Are there meant to be coils also? Is there a "spring" that ties the zig zags together? Thanks in...

Steering box, shaft, and steering column is hot

This might sound left field. Consider checking that your ignition timing is not too retarded. On small block magnum had mine at 5BTDC and now 10BTDC - big difference to underhood and exhaust temperatures.
