    67 Bel heater box extraction

Thanks Fran. I was just scrolling around and came across a pic of a heater box for sale. Now I understand. Thanks for your help!

    67 Bel heater box extraction

Have a leaking heater core. Trying to figure out how the heater box comes out...looks like it's all one piece from the pass. door post to the steering column. I see the screws at the bottom, but not sure how else it may be attached. Looks so nasty I'm considering bypassing the core. Forever...

Yet another 8-3/4 setup question. 3.73

Motive Gear set. The pinion bearing sat all the way flush because it's got a matching radius. BTW, thanks for your earlier post. The excellent info you provided was just what I needed. You and DVW convinced me that I was doing it at least halfway right. Now if it holds up!

Yet another 8-3/4 setup question. 3.73

Well, after the helpful responses, this is where I ended up. Zero shims under the inner pinion bearing. Guess I'm gonna have to accept this, I'm all out of adjustment options. This is with 30 in/lbs. of pinion preload and .008 backlash. Any other suggestions (other than pay someone...already got...

Yet another 8-3/4 setup question. 3.73

OK, thanks. I have another question though- I have already removed the original beveled shim from under the inner pinion bearing and replaced it with a couple from the gear kit that are slightly thinner. Is that kosher? Starting to make me a little nervous. It seems like I'm getting the pattern...

Yet another 8-3/4 setup question. 3.73

First time I've tried setting up my own gear. Last time I paid a guy to set my 3.91 up...sounded like a freight train coming, drove it from my kids house to mine and sheared 6-7 teeth off the ring gear. When I pulled it, the pinion had about 1/4" of end play. So here I am, schlepping and...

    741 yoke, 10 spline vs. 29 spline

Thanks Fran! That was my next question. Bought the Dr. Diff yoke too. Thanks to everyone!

    741 yoke, 10 spline vs. 29 spline

Numbers on strap are "0 28 78". Measurement is 2-1/8".

    741 yoke, 10 spline vs. 29 spline

Ordered (online) a new 3.73 ring and pinion for my 741 case. Opened it up and found a 29 spline pinion, opposite of the existing10 spline yoke I was planning on using. New pinion has 7/8" thread and larger lock nut than the 10 spline. The question is, can I get a 29 spline yoke that uses the...

67 Belvedere ll - remove instrument cluster

Smoke light switch every time? You have a short somewhere, or bad connections? Light switch gets hot in the off position, or when it's on? Better description of the problem would help. There's a lot of guys here that have a ton of knowledge and are willing to help.

It has so far. I'm sure when I'm as far away from home as possible, at midnight, in the rain, it will quit.

67 Belvedere ll - remove instrument cluster

Well, I got a new headlight switch and installed it. Got the left side dash lights back, and the new switch has a ground tab on it. Maybe they figured out they have grounding issues? So, why did only half the lights come back?

Was just looking at it. Metal strip on top of the cluster has some corrosion. Gonna clean it up and test. Hope it works! Thanks!

67 Belvedere ll - remove instrument cluster

Thanks Don. Another education for me. So, if there is power to the circuit board, there must be a ground somewhere. Where does that get applied, and is it switched, like through the light switch? All the lights on the cluster seem to be good, yet it is still dead.

67 Belvedere ll - remove instrument cluster

New question- with the battery connected, should I be able to read 12v across the ammeter posts? Does it matter if the key is on or off? The black ammeter wire does not show ground potential either way. I can see 12v from the red post to chassis ground, but nothing between the posts. Yeah, I...

67 Belvedere ll - remove instrument cluster

I did test the fuses, all good. Everything on the cluster just disappeared, so I thought that the light switch/cluster would be a logical place to look next. The plug on the light switch came off a little hard, the light green wire had melted it's way loose of the plug. Not sure exactly where it...
