I’m still confused about this.
While running my coil gets 3-8 volts and fluctuates a lot. And the wire that feeds the coil is not connected to the ballast. Only the box is. So the wire that feeds the coil appears to be going the the bulkhead connector.
the coil voltage stays mostly at 3. The...
Ok
I think some wires are backwards.
Key on engine off
The ballast side with the 2 wires has 6.5 volts. The other side with one wire connected to it has 12 volts. And that’s going to the box. 6.5 volts at coil. But not while running
A head gasket can leak 3 ways that I know of.
1. In the combustion chamber which will lead to misfires and white smoke
2. Leak out onto the ground
3. Leak into the oil
There is a cheap tool that will detect any carbon emissions that may be getting into the coolant. They sell them at Napa.
You...
Can you check the torque on the head bolts that you can reach?
Is it a new build or an old engine?
Personally I’d do some more research before I condemn the head gasket.
It looks like the previous owner put the reduced voltage side of the ballast to the orange box. Shouldn’t it have 12 volts? And the coil wire is but connected to a blue wire that goes inside. Crazy this is it has worked for three years and is working today.
If it just started maybe the oil will sit on top of the coolant after it sits a while. If you take the radiator cap of and stir it with a screwdriver (?). If it’s milkshaked you know you’re done. Hopefully that not the case.
Last weekend I thought I had a coil or module acting up. Breaking up at high rpm.started checking it out today and discovered the voltage to the coil is about 3-8 but mostly 3 volts and jumping around like crazy.
Alternator good at 14v. Also 14 at ballast.
But the coil wire goes into a harness...
Hi everybody. Quick question. Will the orange box just die or can it break up under hard acceleration? I suspect a coil but this happened last weekend and it was pretty hot out and we were running hard. I’m asking because this has never happened before and I have a new coil. Thanks!
If the ride height changes any amount, the camber may change slightly, but the toe will change a lot and is the highest tire wear angle. Yes. You need to do another alignment.
I put my shifter cable in heat shield, DEI I think. Still too close for my liking so then I the cable with shield inside an aluminum heat riser tube. No problem since. Only problem was nobody at part store knows what a heat riser is.
Doing a fuel pump today and it’s hot!
Like ambient temperature hot. Put some vasoline on the fuel pump push rod and it kept sliding out. Ok, maybe a little more annnnnnd slide out again. Ok, maybe a little higher on the shaft. Annnnd slide out again. After 20 minutes in the freezer (rod and...
