So a friend of mine is restoring a 69RR, he took the front upper control arms off and realized he needs to do a large clean up/restore of them as well as add new ball joints and bushings. He called me last night and asked "Should I just buy new stock replacements?"
I was not sure how to reply...
When I bought my 68 Hemi GTX, I remembered the story that I was told from the previous owner that he had cut the hood release because (more than once) he would be at a gas station and he would come out to the car after going inside to pay and someone would be trying to pop the hood open to see...
I am struggling to find the correct set of new brake lines for my GTX. I have had no sccess in finding the correct set for my car/application. ANY advice. BTW, I am local to inline tube and have contacted them about duplicating my set. They have not responded with interest.
Here are the...
So I have a friend who is restoring a 69 GTX, he has the broadcast sheet and it was ordered with undercoating. He has stripped all the undercoating off the car, and is in the process of getting it painted, etc.
So over the weekend we got into a debate over what he should do with the underside...
A friend of mine was selling his Charger and I was at his house when he had a couple of guys who were interested in buying it. The buyer had asked all the right questions, typical stuff about the numbers matching, history, they reviewed the build sheet, etc.
Long story short, the buyer walked...
I have the original door mirror off my GTX, the housing is in fantastic shape, but the mirror looks like hell (discoloring and splotchy). Is it possible to just replace the mirror piece and not the entire housing?
I like to meet people, I like to socialize, I like being kind and taking interest in what others are doing and helping people. So, my wife and I went to dinner last night and while we were waiting for a table (10 minutes or so). I struck up a conversation with the couple who came in behind us...
I am debating what to do when I get to the point of finishing off the interior. I have the original carpet (great shape) as well as the original padding (also great shape) that is/was under the carpet. My question or thought is do I keep the original padding when I put the carpet/interior back...
So this may sound like a dumb question, but I am going to ask anyway. I need to get new shocks on all four corners of my Hemi GTX. There are two options when looking at replacement in the black factory style (Standard & Heavy Duty). Given the fact that this is a Hemi car, 4 spd, my gut says...
All,
I realized that the alternator that was on my car is a 2 FLD alternator, I am not sure if this is factory for a 68 Hemi GTX, but one of the previous owners converted the car to electronic ignition (not sure if this matters). I am going back to dual points and have the original...
Tearing this car down, I noticed it did not have a bulkhead connector. Instead it was covered with some rubberized material to seal off the opening with wires coming through. Well I'm guessing the original owner made this mess when he clobbered to electronic ignition.. I mean why in the hell...
I have searched everywhere and cannot find these new. There are plenty of the ones that are ribbed or pebbled texture, but mine are glossy and smooth.
Unless someone shows me the light, I am going to take a shot and making them myself.
I am looking to replace my interior window trim on my 68 GTX. When I am looking for sources I can only find the 4 piece set without the corners.
However, I can find several sources that have the 6 piece set with the corners for a 68 Coronet. I may be an idiot, but I did not realize the window...
I see buttons available, but I am curious how someone is getting the old one off and putting the new one on. I am good with tackling on my own, just looking for advice to minimize damage in my attempt to remove that little pin.
So, I am in the process of the teardown to restore the GTX. When I got to the glovebox, there was a stack of papers, misc items, but I came across something that I have never seen before. I found this very cool since it is color matched to the car, and does not appear to have been opened.
Is...
So I am in the process of tearing down my Hemi GTX and I realized a few things.
1. The interior parts are in really nice shape, 90% of the plastic is in fantastic shape, could use a little cleaning and maybe a couple pieces need to be re-dyed.
2. The rear ashtrays were surface rusted but I was...
