    Borgeson Update

I used “ power steering fluid” from O’Reillys. Their brand. Any brand you like ?

    Power steering cooler install question

I’m planning to install a power steering cooler soon, and wonder if it matters that the cooler will be higher than the pump ? I’m planning a spot in front of the radiator, mounted right below the upper core support, hoses going thru the core support, under the battery tray, and to the pump and...

    Borgeson Update

I’ve had the Borgeson by Bergman in my road runner for over a year. from the start I noticed a slight hiss at idle, and when I move the steering wheel slightly it increases . Also, plan to install a cooler, it has always had a lack of assist when warmed up. Went to a big show 2 weeks ago, sat...

    15” wheels to 17”…alignment ???

My opinion is 17” are not “big” anymore . 20’s and 22’s are too big. If I kept it “classic” it came with 14” skinny tires. Thanks for your opinion, but I just wanted to know if alignment would be affected by the change. My old car is a correct numbers engine, but I have changed from the...

    15” wheels to 17”…alignment ???

So, I’m thinking of a new set of wheels/tires. Has 15x8 magnum 500 all around, 235-60 front, 275-60 rear. I want to be able to swap back and forth as my “mood” and travels dictate. likely 17x8 all around, same 4.5 backspace as the 15’s. Staggered tire sizes, likely 255-50 front and 275-50...

Mopar Action Oct 2021 article re: swapping b body sway bar links with those from a recent Pford pickup for improved handling.

I been thinking of getting a larger front sway bar for my 68 roadrunner. think these with the OE bar will be a noticeable improvement ?

Lares 11033 PS gear issues ?

I put in a Borgeson box and related parts from Bergman Autocraft. He is a vendor listed on here. His customer service is excellent. The steering is very similar to a late model. NO play at all. I found out my Moog idler arm from 20 years ago has slop ! Got to change it to a roller bearing from...

Borgeson vs Steer and Gear unit

I’ve got 20 year old hooker long tube ceramic coated 1 7/8 tubes . Don’t know the part number, but the Borgeson has a lot more room around it than the OE box. I’ve got a few pics of the install on my posts. I didn’t have to remove the header to install the Borgeson.

Anyone using Firm Feel roller bearing idler arm kit

Well, just found out my Moog idler I put on the car in 2005 is shot. The rubber ? Bushing where it attaches to the K frame is squishy. Thinking of going to a roller bearing idler from Bergman or get the kit from Firm Feel and rebuild mine. I’ve spent too much time on this site already looking...

Borgeson vs Steer and Gear unit

I’ll offer a drive to anyone that wants to feel the difference. I only had a worn out OE box to reference. It’s not Acura steering, but almost like 2019 F150.

Borgeson vs Steer and Gear unit

Well, I’m still sold on the Borgeson from Bergman Autocraft. I drove about 30 miles on the interstate last Saturday to a show, 75 mph. Felt very good, safe, no need to constantly move the wheel like my old box. On the return trip I was late for a concert my grandson was in … 85 and up to 90 on...

Borgeson vs Steer and Gear unit

I put the Borgeson unit in my car. Bought the kit from Bergman Autocraft. It’s night and day from my old oe unit. Mr Bergman was very helpful and quick to answer a couple questions I had. His kit has the coupler which allows you not to cut the column. Money well spent. Drives great !

Least $ power steering box ?

I considered shimming the Borgeson box to straighten the angle of the box to steering shaft, but would have to put at least a couple washers behind the box on the bolt at the drivers side. My thought was the box would not sit flat on the K frame mount, and torquing the other 2 mounting bolts...

Least $ power steering box ?

In response to your question of how firm it is…I drive a 2019 Ford F-150 crew cab daily. It’s rack and pinion. My roadrunner feels just a little more assisted than the truck. My wife drives a 2018 Acura TLX, it has more resistance than the roadrunner and the truck. But it’s a great car ! It...

Least $ power steering box ?

I got the steering all buttoned up and took a short test drive today. WOW it drives like a new car. Great on center feel, and still good assist. Money well spent. Texted Mr Bergman with a couple of questions as I installed. His answers were very fast and helpful. Great customer service. I’m...

    I have a tremec tko 600. 5 speed with a .68 5th gear. I have 3.91 gears, and 28” tall back tires .

Least $ power steering box ?

I described the removal process on my March 12 post. I emailed Bergman about the coupler angle and he said that was perfectly acceptable. I used the Bergman coupler mostly because I didn’t want to cut my steering shaft to accommodate the Borgeson u joint. I have a power steering cooler, but...

Least $ power steering box ?

Thought I would post some pics of the Borgeson/Bergman steering box/ coupler install. Not quite finished, but the “heavy lifting” is done. Didn’t have to raise the motor , the new box rolled. Right in place, even with headers. Of course the battery and tray were removed. It was challenging to...
