The connection under the rubber flap on the other side isn't to be used by the looks.

So I don't need that extra wire that it comes with? Should I unplug it and cover the connector? What do you mean by "transfer wire"? Is it for testing the starter without the other wiring hooked up?
I've bought a mini starter for my 66 Satellite with a stroked 318 poly.
I am useless at electrical and need some very basic help with wiring it up.
The old starter has 3 wires going to 2 posts
The new starter has 2 posts but also this wire with a connector on the end. What is that for...
How long do you think he took doing the job? $375 isn't much more than 3 hours work these days, at least here in Australia.
One-off jobs always cost a lot more than mass produced stuff.
Thanks guys, I'll take it for a drive and see how hot it gets. If it's only "engine bay" hot then I'll try the cover. It may even act as a heat shield from the engine heat.

My factory voltage regulator was replaced with an electronic regulator.
I've cut a channel in the underside of the case from the original regulator and it slips nicely over the new one so it looks more original. I haven't fitted it yet until I am sure it will be OK.

Michael, just buy a regular good brand parts store battery from a local supplier. Peel the stickers off, give the case a light sand and spray it with black rattle can paint. It will look pretty good. My battery was yellow and blue before I painted it.

Question: If you use a slightly smaller pulley can the alternator 'over rev" at high engine rpm?
I've thought myself of changing the pulley to smaller one (pitch diameter of course), but wondered what effect it might have at high revs, as it's obviously spinning much faster than the engine and...
I can't help on the wiring sorry - I got an auto electrician to hook them up for me. I'm more mechanical repairs than electrical. The gauges left to right are: Water Temp, Oil Pressure, Volts.
