I bought it as a full balanced rotating assembly from a old racer. It came out of one of his cars and he had it machined and balanced but he never installed it. It was sealed in bags from the machine shop but sat for 20+ years. Journals are good.
The rectangle locator on the crank is just GONE. Never noticed this and now I have a new machined crank installed. I don’t know how I am supposed to be able to install the timing gear/damper without the locator.
Looks like it’s just pressed in, should I try swapping it from the old crank to...
These rings came in a bottom end rebuild kit that I bought and specd 30 over rings.
the new rings and the old factory rings are the same height and both fit Fine in the groove on the factory pistons but neither will on the TRW domes… I guess these pistons require special rings that are...
I’m partway through building the bottom end of my 383. I was just about to gap the piston rings but when I test fit them they won’t go in the grooves on the pistons…
Do I need special rings or something? 30 over TRW L2293 dome pistons and Hastings 30 over moly rings.
Really want a Racer Brown cam, they're local to me. I've heard he's on oxygen from the Covid tho?
Maybe he's back working now? this was a few months ago
Comp told me a 23-707-9 Solid roller cam would be perfect for my combo, if anyone happens to have one that they’d be willing to sell for not insane money pm me
Core supply. Also huge back orders from the pandemic. This is happening with every cam company I called. Comp, Howard’s, Bullet, Hughes.
Schneider Racing Cams wouldn’t pick up the phone the multiple times I tried calling them the past month or 2, and Racer Brown Cams (local cam company) is down...
Yes. Guy was kinda rude to me on the phone because I didn’t know exact flow bench numbers for my ported 452 heads. He also told me that it’d be a 8 month wait if I wanted a custom grind. They didn’t have a off the shelf cam that would work right
Why not go with a bigger cam since you have aluminum heads?
Side note, If you can find a set of old ductile iron crane or isky rockers they sound perfect do what you want
I like my old Weiand covers.
Cal Custom and Ansen sold cast finned valve covers with a blank spot in the middle and DC sold valve cover stickers you could put on them. I have a set of DC stage IV head valve cover stickers in my collection.
