What the Hell Happened To My Front Tires?

I went through this last year. After adjusting torsion bars, start the car, put it in gear, drive backward and forward several feet (I think I moved about 20-30 feet). I did it twice for good measure. You have to give all of the moving suspension parts the opportunity to return to normal...

    Ride Height adjustment - where?

This original sales brochure has me thinking it was meant to sit level front and back.

    Ride Height adjustment - where?

Visually, I could care less when deciding where to set my ride height--I just want it where it belongs for the best ride, etc. But for those who do, here is the ride height using the measurement from bottom of the steering knuckle arm where it meets the tie rod end, and the ride height using the...

    Ride Height adjustment - where?

And the difference in height between the point just below the ball joint to the floor (where Service Manual photo shows), and the bottom of the arm at the tie rod end to the floor (where the written part says to go), is 3/4”. Hmmm.

    Ride Height adjustment - where?

The term “adjusting blade” had both me and my dad—who has farmed 50 years & seen a lot of repair manuals—perplexed. I figure somebody past/present/future had to be in the same spot & posted this. You raise another question: The repair manual Figure 2 photo shows the B measurement at the point of...

    Ride Height adjustment - where?

So, it’s the bottom of the lower control arm in the middle, where the height adjusting bolt passes through?

    Ride Height adjustment - where?

I'll clarify--using the "instructions," I'm having trouble determining where exactly the bottom of the adjusting blade is and the instruction photo isn't helping. ** Where is the A measurement? That is the bottom of what?

    Ride Height adjustment - where?

'66 Belvedere II. My ride height might be off. I think I measured the wrong points previously and now I'm all turned around and confused. The Service Manual photo is less than crystal clear. This may be ridiculously easy, but can somebody point on a photo and show me where I should be...

    Stubborn idler arm

OK, I decided to apply some Aerokroil and let it soak. With nothing left to lose, I just beat relentlessly on the stud. It FINALLY broke free. Now I have to cut off the mushroomed threads. Wow.

    Stubborn idler arm

Putting pressure on the end of the stud with a jack and beating frame, lubricating the stud and beating on it, heating the housing around the stud—nothing worked yet. I’ve seen people recommend special tools (pitman arm puller, ball joint pullers) on here, but I don’t see how one will fit this...

That was it! Thanks! I had a feeling it was something simple I was overlooking and I was tired of scratching my head:-)

    Torsion bar trouble

Has anyone had this happen to them? Torsion bar came out easy, but won’t go back in. The hex on the lower control arm isn’t lining up with the torsion bar. The rear of the bar is installed (see photo). 66 Belvedere. Any suggestions?
