Nope its a flat base. I was hoping to go to a taller filter so I dont have to start moving things. I know a drop base will work just fine I just like a flat one better.
Problem is I have no place to store things. Thats why I gave away my good heads. I'm not so sure of my hoods surface under the paint. It is looking more and more like there was surface rust spots that were sanded and painted over. Lots and lots of spots. I'm guessing if I go for a MW Scoop then...
Right now i'm using a bolt to hold the air cleaner in place. It just barely clears. A 1 to 2 inch spacer will mean I need about 1.5 inches of clearance so I'm guessing a 2 inch might work.
My 63 Polara has a 440 with a RPM intake. The PO had a. Wing nut holding the air cleaner on which dimpled the hood. I want to add a spacer under the carb for a small nitrous hit.
And cold air. Problem is all the accepted scoops are for cross rams. I see nothing for single carbs our tunnel...
Great thread. Same issue with my car. PO bought a 76 440 out of a Motor Home. Had it rebuilt. Speed Pro tall flat tops. Small cam. Eddy RPM intake. 175 psi cranking pressures. And a small eddy 600 mileage carb. Pinged like crazy. Had a points dist that was gapped at 007. I dumped the points and...
No mine was wrecked pretty good. All I can tell from the Vin is a 318 from the CA plant. I guess Ill just let it slide since its already got a 440 and a 727 in it. No plans to pass it off as something important other than to me.
Just bought mine. On the 100 mile drive home the driveshaft started vibrating hard and then smoke filled the rear view mirror. Towed it the rest of the way home. Found out the shaft was 2 inches too short and took out the tailcone. It's at Art Carrs shop right now getting a rebuilt with good...
Put a dixie cup or small plastic cup in that spot with a lump of Play Dough on top. Cover with a bit of plastic wrap so it wont stick to the hood. Close the hood and then measure to height of the cup and dough. will give you a very accurate reading.
