68 RR bench has latches on the seat back. At least my LA built CA car does. They are way down low and might be easily missed at first glance. No head rests on mine and the seat back is not higher than the side window (or right close to it). My 66 Belvederes do not have latches.

My chrome bezel came from PG Classics and it is very nice.

There are some good paints out there that match a plated finish. I think even Krylon has a color called metallic or something like that. Should be good enough for an ashtray, that is if you don't use it as intended!

That's cool!! About you working at the LA plant that is. My 68 RR was built there. Can you tell me exactly where it was or if there is anything left of it?

Keep in mind that the seat foam isn't perfect. Chances are you will have to build up a few areas here and there to get the covers to fit properly.

I had my 68 and 69 RR clusters done by APT Instruments in MN. Do a search for that or The Gauge Guys. Excellent work.
