Yep. Very common. The bolts holes for the exhaust go into the coolant passages.
Drain the coolant enough so it's not leaking. Get the coolant cleaned up in the threads. When reinstalling header bolts, use Teflon tape or something to make them water tight.
Thanks for the help. I do have a FSM and will be ordering the 727 book.
Sometimes the FSM is too vague and I typically come here first for info as it's a lot more tailored to each situation.
I don't have a lot of experience with much of anything more than basic stuff. I have been trying to learn. And the more I get into this car, the dumber I feel. Lol
Sorry, it's cleaned out now.
Is this something that I'd be better off finding a transmission shop to do it and discuss?
Don't worry, you aren't going to hurt my feelings if you say yes. Lol
I'm really thinking of going back to a regular auto setup. I would eventually have to have a good shift kit. I love the way the manual VB shifts. It's amazing.
The thing I was worried about was exploding the transmission with the VB that's in it. My neighbor went on a big rant about it. And...

The right stuff is any amazing sealer/ gasket maker. I use it for lots of stuff.... thermostat housing, valley pan, water pump, and valve cover on my old truck and another car. I've used it in a pinch on a gas tank to patch a seam...
I'm curious as to how things go. Whatever you do, keep us updated on how things are going. I've been following along this long, don't quit with updates. Lol
From what I've understood: it's about the "free-revving". The components in a motor need to have a "load", or under some stress, to keep pressure on them to not "over-rev" themselves. This "over-rev" allows the components to move "free" and have the potential for catastrophic failure.
This is...
Ed, I've been following this thread. I've added no input as I don't have enough knowledge to assist.
Because of this thread, there has been a ton of knowledge, ideas, and suggestions. I have learned a lot about how things go together and determining what things go with what because of this...
