I believe 1141 is a smaller physical size. I went through this with my '70 500 recently, and swapped a bunch of stuff over to LED (interior courtesy lights, backup lights, side markers, gauges). The base is the same, but the 1141 is shorter. Thats a good catch - the 1156 would hit the inside of...
Correct.
Easy way to tell is, single-filament bulbs have one "tit" on the bottom; dual-filaments have two. Those are the hot leads; the barrel of the base is the ground. You can also tell by looking inside the bulb socket on the vehicle - one contact, single filament; two contacts, dual.
I'll have to try that for maintaining the finish. I seem to have found a happy compound combination - I'm VERY pleased with the way things are turning out now that I have the 110 and 210!
Now I just need to find a source for less-expensive bonnets for my orbital sander...
Well....someone posted a while back (maybe Kern?) where a buddy did some test polishing on their red car, with meguiars 110 and 210 compounds. I have been looking for those for a while...and tonight I found them!
The day I got the car:
And tonight. Final round of 1000 wet sand, 1500 wet...
Yeah, I'm not worried about the stains. I like them - they're scars, and I wear MY scars with pride! (I have plenty of them!) I just like things to be as presentable as humanly possible - clean, well-kept, well-maintained. That's how I save money in life - I take care of stuff instead of letting...
All good thoughts, thanks! I definitely enjoy driving it - mom bought a '70 500 brand new that was F8, vinyl top, green interior, 318, factory a/c...and my cousin totalled it in '75. This F4 car is about as close as I'll ever get to her old one - and it even has the same wheelcovers! (at least...
Yeah...who knows. I got a lot of paperwork with the car (original dealer order, original bill of sale, original loan paperwork, broadcast sheet, owners manual, some random receipts)...but nothing about the paint, and nothing about the vinyl top that was added at some point (fender tag and...
Yes, all surface work is being done wet - wet-sanding, and liquid wax/compound. I never do anything dry (heheh...).
I tried to get some pics in the garage last night to illustrate.
Nice and glassy:
...especially if you look at the reflection of the motorcycle. (Yeah, the stains are in...
So, I've been having moderate success on my '70 Charger. It has an old, non-original paint job on it. It was a FL car all its life, and I suspect paint fade and/or a garage door incident on a quarter panel (and subsequent "we can't match it so we'll paint the whole thing") caused the car to be...
Mine has an aftermarket control valve, outside the firewall. Not sure if that was "the" leak, or "a" leak...but even that was unhooked when I got the car, so I'm betting on Murphy's Law here, and thinking it's "a" leak.
Although, now that the carpet is out it's the perfect time to check it...
Yeah, still debating on that one. Heater hoses were unhooked when I bought it (FL car, not like they need heat). Haven't decided if I'm going to hook them up and see how bad it leaks...or just leave it be. The car won't go out in winter anyway, I'm not exposing it to salt.
Maybe one day I'll...
...I wish I could find some ammo..!!!
Amazingly, when I pulled the interior, I didn't find much of anything. No fries, no pens, no coins. Someone actually cleaned it out pretty well before I got it. The guy I got it from had it less than a year; he got it from his brother, who'd bought it from...
So, the roads are covered in salt (and snow), so the 500 is just hangin' out in the garage...and I'm bored.
My new-to-me Charger has been painted. A while ago - it's single-stage, it has plenty of age (stains, minor surface cracks, horribly oxidized when I got the car), it's just the wrong...
So at some point in its prior life, someone added adhesive-mounted, thin plastic/rubber rub strips on the side of my '70 Charger. They're not factory, they don't have any rivets or hardware, they're just stick-on.
And, they're ugly.
Anyone have any ideas on how to dissolve the adhesive? I've...
A couple notes that I forgot to add -
1. for hi-only lights, I'd use LED's since they light instantly. HIDs have to "warm up" for a couple seconds by their nature.
2. I do NOT recommend all-LED headlights. LEDs, by their nature, do not generate any heat. A buddy of mine put all LEDs in his...
Get conversion headlights. Any of my sealed-beam lights get replaced with Hella E-code conversion lights. Get Hella E-code. yes, it matters. They put the light where it belongs, so you get the most out of your bulbs.
They use a removeable H4 (halogen) bulb and plug into your factory harness...
