Watch a couple videos on how to use the tool with "buck-tooth" socket on the end. That tool is your friend when you remove and install the springs!
An old friend told me (when it comes to service), "there's Good - Fast - Cheap", but you can only have two of them. If you want "good" and "fast", it wont be cheap, if you want "fast" and "cheap", it wont be good, and if you want "good" and "cheap", it wont be fast. It seems to apply quite...
Wondering if anyone has a pistol grip shifter without the fake wood scales installed, that might be willing to trace the profile of the shifter arm where the scales fit and the screw hole locations? I'm upgrading my cnc router capabilities (CAD/CAM program) and would like to try and machine a...
That's odd, are you sure the holes in the heads weren't repaired and re-tapped at an angle? It doesn't' make sense that they would be that way from the factory. Regardless of the fastener type, it won't seat correctly, and they will weep oil.
Put a little dab of thread sealer on the screws, that should prevent any oil from weeping out. It should work, I have the same V covers on my motor, they are pretty thick.

1979 Trans-Am, I was on I-90 just east of Rapid city S.D. It's long and straight and soooo, I decided lets see what this little 4.9L V-8 will do. It had a (I believe) 3.23 gears in the back so it wasn't an off the line car. But it wound up pretty good on the highway. Once it got past 125 MPH...
Couldn't agree more with finding a good car club, wealth of knowledge, skill, and the old timers know stuff that you can't find in books! Case in point: one way to get a pilot bearing out of the end of the crankshaft? Fill the void with bearing grease and insert a piece of round bar stock in...
I dont know if that will take the heat of actual brazing without turning into a puddle. You might look into some of the low temp alloy brazing rods used for aluminum repairs, I used some to repair a broken skag on the lower unit of the outdrive on my boat, worked great. You still need to be...
