I put a Super Sniper 4500 on a blown hemi in my 68 GTX. I used the Tanks Inc tank and upgraded bigger fuel pump. I ran all 6AN braided fuel lines to the Sniper. I have the Holley fuel regulator/filter combo on the frame rail by the tank for a short return line. No leaks, no problems so far. It’s...
After reading through this, is it possible I have one of the original 50 dominators Ford commissioned from Holley? Since this one has no list number on the throttle body. It said after Ford couldn’t use the 4500 anymore, the tooling was turned over to Holley to market it as they wanted, hence...
I think I have the original parts that were replaced in the box. It was freshened up to work on a blown hemi from “The Blower Shop.” Replaced with the Holley Sniper 4500 EFI.
I looked all over this carb, and it does not have any other numbers stamped on it. I’ve only had the car for 6 months, but a friend has had it since 1974. Original owner had it till 1972, before he was murdered. Anyone know of any Holley experts I can send pics to, to confirm it’s authenticity...
It’s a Holley Dominator 1050. Has been rebuilt with less than 10 miles on it. Comes with box of extra parts. I was told this may have been a NASCAR carb. Was purchased in the 70’s. I went EFI and was looking for a fair price for it. Only numbers on it are: 86490 on one side, and 12R-4325B. Thanks
Well, like I said previously, I am not a carb expert! I changed both power valves and it did nothing. I adjusted all four mixture screws 1 turn out and idles just fine now. I guess playing with it more and doing more research will definitely help with the learning curve of carburetors. Thanks...
What do you recommend for an EFI setup? If it makes it more cruiser friendly, I’ll do it. Otherwise, I may try to sell the whole engine and buy a more streetable hemi.
Can not find a list number anywhere. That is all the numbers around the horn. I have no clue how to adjust anything on this carb except throttle screw!
Mine does not sound like this kind of blower surge. I wish it did! Mine idles low for a few seconds, then revs up for a few seconds, then slowly comes back down again. PO mentioned possibly a blown power valve. Would that do the erratic idle? Thanks
I have a 68 GTX. Original 440, 4 speed, Dana 60. Now has a blown 68 426 Hemi with stage V heads and 6-71 Weiand blower. I was told this carb was a Dominator 1050cfm. Only 30 miles on engine in last 31 years, so no real good test drives. My problem is that it will not idle. It constantly revs up...
