Green guy needs help

Hi all, I’m new to the DIY mechanics projects and need some help replacing my break system. I have a 1968 Dodge charger, originally had Drum breaks and previous owner swapped the front for disk breaks.

Hi all, I’m new to the DIY mechanics projects and need some help replacing my break system. I have a 1968 Dodge charger, originally had Drum breaks and previous owner tried to swap out the front for disk breaks. The break pedal I have to mash to the floor and it feels like it eventually coasts to a stop. Not at all confident. In doing some research I think the problem is the disc breaks won’t work with the current master cylinder and booster since they are for drum. Can anyone confirm this? Also I want to replace everything! New booster, master cylinder, break lines, full front and back disc conversion kit. I don’t want to order the wrong parts. Can anyone help guide me to get the correct parts and suggestions on where to get them. Right now I’ve looked on jegs, however looks like there is room for error if you don’t order correctly. I’m also speculating the front end is not original, maybe off or coronet. There are no pre drilled holes on the body for the chrome side strips. Thanks everyone and I appreciate your patience. I’m looking to make this my dream hobby now that I have a little time and a couple bucks!!!

Welcome aboard! Are you sure about the year of the car. Your pictures show a first generation Charger, (66 or 67)! I think you might run into application errors when searching for parts, which will most likely cause problems! You should post in the welcome wagon first to introduce yourself. Then post in the appropriate section of what you need help with. Good Luck! :)

Yes it’s a 67, not sure how I messed that up. Thanks for the info. I need to learn how to navigate this site a little better!

Welcome Aboard from AZ. We are all rookies at some time in our life and are eager to learn about fixing our cars. You may want to start by spelling the word "Brakes" correctly. Good luck with your car and look forward to seeing your progress on your brake system.

Welcome from SC - Good Luck with your project. Try using RockAuto as a starting point for parts as well NationalMoParts. Complete brake project might cost about $1200 and don't forget to replace the lines - suggest using either stainless steel or PVF coated lines.
