About this Mopar:

I'm presently working on a 66 Charger I found in Maine on July 6th. I was looking for a 66 Satellite convertible but saw this and couldn't pass on it. It was sitting under the trees behind this guy's garage for 25 years. I left him a note and he called and said it was time to sell it. I asked how much and he said he had $2500 into it. The same day I saw another project car so I figured $3500 would be a good place to dicker from. He said "No".......... $2500. I said I'd be right back with the trailer. Fortunately when he put it there he laid a piece of canvas under it which saved it. I had to replace the front floors and and the rear lower quarters. I also cut out anything that had bondo and welded in patch panels.
It came with a 361 big block but someone swapped it for a 318. Th manifolds were lying on the sides of the engine but after a new coil, battery and some alligator clips I fired that puppy up. It ran for about 5 minutes with the 25 year old gas in the tank.
I've completely stripped the car welded in all the new panels, did a 4 wheel disc brake conversion, new American Racing wheels and tires, new rear axle bearings and seals and cleaned up the engine and engine bay. Last Saturday we had it completely sanded to bare metal getting ready to prime when I ended up in the hospital with a massive heart attack. It was a complete shock to me. Don't drink or smoke, I weigh 2 pounds more than when I came back from Nam and I'm on my feet all day. The doctor said take it easy for a few so I figured 3 days was enough and went down the shop yesterday and while turning the engine with a ratchet to time it I slipped and hit the flex fan. Had to go to the er (same one) and get it stitched up because it wouldn't stop bleeding from the blood thinners I'm on. Now my wife is pissed. I can't help it. I just love bringing these old cars back to life.

Just a little more blood, sweat and tears and she will be back on the road again. Its worth it..

Yes those blood thinners do tend to let you bleed non stop. Take it easy and be care full buddy. Nice find and good to see you are bringing it back to original. Good job.

Take it easy and be careful, been there, done that!
Nice ride, by the way:thumbsup:, keep the pics coming.

Great project. Had two of them years ago. Still think they have the best interiors.... Take it easy. Get it done in its own time. Keep your health.

Your car reminds me 39 yrs ago, I could of bought a 67 charger, 383 in mint condition for 2500 dollars, but I could not afford it at that time. Lol I settled for a 73 road runner for 800 dollars, which I still have. Thank you for those pics.

Ohh Brother I, like what you have going on!!! Good luck and Prayers to you. You are further along than me but, people like you keep me motivated to continue!

Wow that is a project and a personal story to go with it. Take a few weeks to recover, especially with your stiches. Get healthy first, the car can wait. Then get back to it. Take care.

That is a great story and a wonderful project car. Wish you
the best with your health. Dennis I was married for 40 years
before cancer took her, I learned that yes she is pissed off -
and she will get over it. Mike
