I swapped in slightly longer shock absorbers which might have let the axle hang a little lower. The 275's made a 318 car look like it was packing at least a 383.
My red belvedere got longer shocks as well. No other modification. It's running 11x3 drums on the back.

I have 245s on my 66. To get them off the car I have to jack it up at the ft spring hanger and let the tire/rim hang

When the time comes, I plan to upgrade to 255s . Keeping them on 15x7 inch rims ( not sure of the backspacing ) With the height level my car sits.
I dont see any way in hades I can get a 275-60 on mine

I went out in the garage and measuref mine. I'm 1"" from the leaf spring and 1.25" from the quarter panel lip. You might clear the spring by .5" or so. Wild card is if the dana axle is wider than my 8.75.
