I ran 275 60 15 on this coronet, with 7 inch C body road wheels. Only modification was

I swapped in slightly longer shock absorbers which might have let the axle hang a little lower. The 275's made a 318 car look like it was packing at least a 383.
My red belvedere got longer shocks as well. No other modification. It's running 11x3 drums on the back.

I have 245s on my 66. To get them off the car I have to jack it up at the ft spring hanger and let the tire/rim hang

When the time comes, I plan to upgrade to 255s . Keeping them on 15x7 inch rims ( not sure of the backspacing ) With the height level my car sits.
I dont see any way in hades I can get a 275-60 on mine

I went out in the garage and measuref mine. I'm 1"" from the leaf spring and 1.25" from the quarter panel lip. You might clear the spring by .5" or so. Wild card is if the dana axle is wider than my 8.75.

i think 5 1/8" back space is going to put the sidewall into the spring.

Yep. I think it will be right there.

In my limited past experience on two other cars, I got away with very very little leaf springs clearance without contact. But the tires rubbed the inner wheel on occasion. I suspect this will be the case on this car too.

I have more room than i thought possible. I don't know how much you need for tire flex. May depend on how you drive.

Thanks Lew. It sounds like your car has considerably more room than the 67’s.

I forgot to add on that when I pull a wheel/tire out, the diff is at full droop with the shocks attached. Plus let the air out.

Here's a couple of mine with the 8" magnums and the 255/60
I was jacking it up to do something, exactly what I do not recall.
